hello

linda bliss here

'99 invasive ductal carcinoma stage 2 grade 3. lumpectomy oct 99 29
lymph nodes taken 2 were + HER2-. 4 cycles A/C and 33 rads all ended
may 2000

NED of disease until august 2003 when ca 27-29 rose to 79. ct scans
and pets scans showed mets to upper mediastinal. had upper mediastinal
biopsy and had to be put on femara which was working until march 2004
when markers rose again to 120. had more ct and pet scans. had 6 weeks
rads from march til may then more tests

ok now i have mets to lymph nodes in abdomin, near the liver and near
the pancreas and have started weekly chemo treatments of taxotere.  i
have had 6 weekly treatments so far and the next ct scan is end of
this month.

had to go on disability from work cuz the chemo is just tiring me
out..thought i could work part time so for now i am resting at home
for a while

no pain yet thank goodness..but chemo is every friday

could go into remission which i am hoping for

any thoughts???

Hety Linda!

I remember you by your name, not by your medical history!

You're a person, not a disease ...

Hugs,

Mary

Linda,
Don't know about survival time. I Hope a LOOOONG Time. I too
started Taxotere This last Tue. I guess I will be getting it every 3
weeks for 6 months with Aredia and getting Aredia for the rest of my
life according to my Onc Nurse..The Dr. Said Taxotere is more easily
tolerated, tho I am really not finding this to be true. Of course when I
had my A/C and Taxol. I didn't have any cancer symptoms. I was strong.
This time I have mets to the ribs, probably back and who knows where
else. The results of the scans have not come back yet. I allready had
bone pain and fatique and loss of appetite. I am just exhausted. My
CA27-29 was over 2400. My original Onc. Didn't believe that we needed
the marker test so didn't give me one for 2-4 month appointments, until
I insisted. In that time they had gone from 127 to 1300. ( I did have
Bone, CT, PET scans when It got to 127, with nothing found) He put me on
Arimidex and the next 2 months they went to 1800 and my LAST appointment
they were 2100 with the worst pack pain I have ever had. Finally got
away from that Doc. My new Dr. said right off, the pain in the back and
ribs was the mets. My old Dr. didn't even suggest the possibility. I
think If I had not changed Dr's I would probbably not have much of a
chance of surviving. I'm not sure it is all that high, now. But at least
we are doing something about it. I have had Ct, MRI of the back and a
bone scan next week. I like my New Dr. and facility and am hoping for a
good outcome.
I wish you all the best. I think of you often...Pat from Apple

Hi Linda, so sorry you are dealing with this.  No fun :-(
I was wondering if you were re-tested for Her2+ this time around.  If
not--would ask to have that done.   Many have a good response to taxotere.  It
can also be combined with other chemo drugs if it begins to fail.  I don't know
if you are at all interested or not but wondered if you had thought of also
exploring complimentary meds/treatment that may possibly help increase the
effectiveness of the Taxotere.  Before you do that it is important to let your
onc know.  I have done a bit on my own but am no expert in this area.  If
interested, you might want to do a web search on complimentary treatments with
the type of mets with which you have been dx'd.
My best thoughts and prayers are with you.  {{{Hugs}}}
