Many of the oldbie's (Allan & Tim) will remember our story.  Sharon (44 yrs)
had BC metastasize to her brain and lung in October of 2001.  She underwent
whole brain radiation as well as stereoscopic radiation in Nov 2001,  She
has been on a weekly infusion of Heceptin since Dec 2001 and takes Femara
daily.

Her scans remain stable and the interval has been increased to twelve weeks.
Our life is relatively normal as she tolerates the Herceptin pretty well.
Sharon has started running again and is currently playing tennis on a weekly
basis.  I think we are probably in the eye of the storm and hoping we can
dance with this disease for many years to come.

In Sharon's honor I created and marketed a breast cancer ribbon (I'm a
jeweler by trade).  The purpose of the ribbon was two fold.  To help raise
monies to combat this disease and to raise awareness about Breast Cancer.
So many people are terribly misinformed about this disease.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of the ribbon are donated to the Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  To date (since May 2003) we have given them
$30,100.00.

Mark, it's good to hear you and Sharon are doing well.

Derborah and I are still dancing as well - Herceptin put her in
remission for 2 1/2 years.  We got back in the fight last Christmas
Eve and Navelbine and Herceptin are shrinking the nasties again.
She's getting good response and we're looking at discontinuing
Navelbine in September.

Take care -

Allan,

Sharon was on that same combo (Herceptin/Navelbine) from May 03 till March
04.  Her lung tumor had started to grow and this one two punch put it back
in its' place.  She had to come off the Navelbine in March because she was
experiencing toxicity which showed up as a neuropethy (sp) in her left
shoulder and arm.

We've just gotten back from Italy.  I'm sending you my favorite pic of
Sharon.  I remember trading pics with you last time we connected.  I call it
"My Two Angels"

Saw it today, Mark - great picture.  Thanks for sharing  ;-)

I'm so glad Sharon is doing okay - you and I been doing the Stage IV
caregiver  thing for a long time.  On this end, life is good.

cheers -

allan

Glad to hear Sharon is doing well, your pin was featured in the Patriot Ledger ?
I seem to remember reading about it there.

Hi Mark, that is great to hear that she is doing so well.  Where is Sharon
being treated?  Are you in the Boston area?  I hope to do the Susan G. Komen 60
mile walk again, if all goes well, this fall.  Take care and best to Sharon.

Congratulations both on having beaten the disease into the submission for
now, and on your imaginative and impressive fundraising effort.  I am sure
the Komen Foundation is very appreciative.
