I'm looking for a hepa certified free standing air filter,
something to make our current Vaccum Hepa complient or a new Hepa Vac
and something like a hepa filter for our centeral AC/DC (the vents
blow down out of the ceiling.)

And what about using Boric Acid as a Miticide.  Might it also
help?

Thanks

Barry here of http://www.aircleaners.com Most vacuum cleaners cannot be
converted to a quality HEPA vac. I feel that the best HEPA vac on the market
is the AirStorm HEPA vacuum cleaner. It is made in the USA in CA. I used to
sell the Miele and Nilfisk HEPA vacuum cleaners and I quit selling them
after I saw how much better the AirStorm performed .Quality free standing
HEPA air cleaners to look for are made by Austin Air, Tracs, Clarifier and
IQ air. Don't waste your time putting a HEPA filter in your A/C air return.
A quality self charging electrostatic air filter will do a great job and it
will last for many years to come. Boric Acid is not for Dustmites. I feel
that a quality HEPA vac can keep the dustmite problem down if you vacuum
often and keep your home clean. Many people react from the chemicals that
are used to control the dustmite problems,

Thanks for the response.
All miticides are pesticides but not all pesticides kill mites.
And I guess not all miticides kill all mites.
That being said, boric acid is a pesticide, it is a miticide, it may
or may not kill dust mites.
I've searched the net and the data I've found leads me to believe
there might be some value in its use.  And since it kills roaches and
many people have roach allergies, if boric acid doesn't hurt you what
does it hurt to try ( in addition to the other environmental controls.

How well does the vacume bags that says they filter out mites work?
Does it have to be a hepa vac?  Which is the higher quality, dust mite
proof or Hepa?  Is it just a matter of size of the filter?

What about the use of activated carbon/charcoal, any use for it
besides it just being incorporated in a filter?

Thanks, I'm asking so I can increase my knowledge, not ask a question
and argue with you.   But I'm on the fence about the Boric Acid.

Some of my family members suffer from asthma and allery to dustmites
and the few changes that seem to have helped are:

-- Using a bagless vacuum cleaner ( I have a Dyson ) ..never loses
suction power. They are better than ones with bags any day, since the
bags do clog no matter what kind they are after using just a couple of
times which affects suction power.
-- Reducing carpeted area in the home ( said to be the most effective
since its the breeding ground for dustmites ) by opting for
hard/resilent floors rather than wall to wall carpeting in as many
rooms as possible. If floor tiles are not the ideal choice ( they are
hard, noisy and cold under the feet)there are other options such as
flotex ( very good for children's rooms since its smooth like resilent
floors, noiseless and warm like carpet), linoleum or parquet/laminate
floors etc . I do not prefer vinyl floors as they offgas and affect
air quality within the home.
-- Not allowing pets in carpeted areas
-- Keeping kitchen grease free and clean to keep roaches away.

We've never tried boric acid so I cant say anything about that.

Try visiting http://ge-e.com . The product has featured on Oprah Winfrey,
is wearable, lots of peer reviewed, published studies and it works.
