Hello,

I thought this group would be interested in some information about
Medicare and the new prescription drug benefits that are available. If
you or someone you know is on Medicare, this information may be of use
to you.

Medicare recipients can now sign up for a Medicare-approved drug
discount card, which may save them 10-25 percent on their prescription
drug expenses. In addition, low-income seniors are eligible for a
credit of up to $600 on their prescription drug purchases.

Please visit http://www.medicare.gov/cardinfo/18.htm to find out which
discount card best meets your needs, based on the type of
prescriptions you need. You can also find out if you qualify for the
$600 credit. Remember, http://www.medicare.gov is your best source for
information on the new Medicare prescription drug benefits.

I got mine and hope to be able to use it before the Drug Companies start
jacking up their prices again in response to this program.
I wish I had saved the aricle I read the other day on the Federal Income
reporting from Drug Companies for the year 2002. We are all led to believe
that the high drug costs are due to the expense involved for research and
development of new drugs. The report stated the drug companies expenses for
2002 amounted to the following (my figures may not be exact, but very close
to what I remember reading).

New Drug reasearch  -  $ 1.8 Billion
Advertising                -  $ 4.3 Billion     yes Billion.

Magazines, newspapers and TV are loaded with ads for prescription drugs.
What good does it do to give this info to the patient. The Dr is the one who
decides what med is right for the patient's condition and he must prescribe
it.
And of course our Lawmakers turn a deaf ear to this waste since the Drug
Companies are among the largest campaign contributors.

Is it any cheaper than drugstore.com or other online sources?

Yes, research is less improtant to drug co's than advertising. Drug co
management is giving heavily to the Republican Party which has helped
keep drug costs high through its legislation.

True, but they spend heavily on marketing MDs too.

Deaf ear?  The money's going from the average person to wealthy
executives and investors.  That's the Republican party's agenda.

Aloha,
George

Spammed by medicare/CMS.  UNREAL. Your tax dollars paid for this!
Drugs are cheaper in Canada but Bush and Co. made a deal with the drug
co.'s make it illegal to get drugs from Canada.

We can't afford 4 more years of Bush!

Aloha,
George
