As someone with asthma and allergies, I regularly cough up phlegm. I find I
often need to cough up stuff a few minutes after eating. I don't think (but
I don't know and that's why I'm asking) this is indicative of a food allergy
and I tested negative for all food allergies at my doctor. To date I
haven't noticed any pattern in terms of what I eat and when I need to clear
my lungs. Is it common for the process of eating to somehow start up
whatever process creates mucus in the lungs?
Thanks in advance.

Quick & simple - get checked for GERD (aka reflux disease). GERD
(reflux) can be very insidious! I am fairly sure I have asthma due to
decades of undiagnosed reflux. No matter what, milage does vary (MDV!).
