I'm curious as to what you guys might do in this situation. I'm already taking
AdVair and Singular for my asthma, which seem to keep me going most of the
time. However, during the dry Santa Anas here in southern California, my
throat and lungs just seem to shrivel up. Have tried a lot of OTC stuff such
as Robitussin (sp?) and cough drops plus plenty of fluids and, while they help
a little, I'm getting a bit tired of curtailing my activities because of the
weather as I fear gettinga full blown asthma attack. Any suggestions from you
gurus out there?

this may sound like a dumb question, but do you mouth breathe? After years
of severe congestion, I have to remind myself sometimes to breath thru my
nose, especially when I exercise.

Over the years I've worked very hard to breath thru my nose ... I'm not sure
how well I do it, but I certainly do try. I also practice deep breathing
whenever I can. Both help, but I still have problems when the humidity is in
the low double digits or when it's cold. I've increased my fluids and saline
spray, but perhaps not enough.
But thanks for suggesting it!

I run a humidifier to keep the humidity in the house between 30% and 40%.
When I'm working outside, I wear a simple 3M mask. When the air is cool,
some of the exhaled moisture and heat is recycled into the inhaled air.
It's not fantastic but it helps.

There is not much to help you outdoors. However for indoors a quality
HUMIDIFIER can be a big help. I have found that the Slant -Fin brand is the
best one on the market. The Slant-Fin does not allow mold and bacteria to
grow in it as other brands and types do. Plus the Slant-Fin has an
Ultra-Violet light system built into it that will kill mold spores, bacteria
and viruses.
I wish you the best!
