Hi, I'm doing my own survey on the different kinds of Steroid Inhalers
people use. I use Flovent Aerosol.....That's being discontinued, as
Serevent has been, I tried Advair...........didn't work, sent me into an
asthma attack. Ive done lots of research and i found the below 2 meds to
replace.
Aerobid-M - Replacement for Flovent
Combivent - Replacement for Serevent
Has anyone used these 2 in combination or, used different inhalers with
success. I cant use the powder in halers, they don't work for me.
Thanks
Nancy

Hi, my son just uses albuterol and it's effective for the most part. We
have also used Xopanex via the nebulizer.

The steroids are supposed to reduce the need for albuterol
The problem with albuterol is that it only treats one asthma symptom.
It does not address the underlying disease.

Flovent is not being discontinued anytime soon, presuming that you are
in the U.S.
I have been on Combivent, and it is not a replacement for Serevent in
my opinion. Doesn't last nearly as long.
I'm on Flovent aerosol and serevent discus. I checked with Glaxo
recently, and they said that the steriod inhalers will not be
discontinued for a couple of years, if at all, in the U.S.

Thank you for the info on Flovent, eases my worries on a replacement.
Thanks

You're welcome, and I know exactly how you feel. I worry that the cfc
inhalers will someday be gone. I cannot take powdered discus steroids
due to recurring thrush infections. Thankfully, the Serevent discus
works fairly well for me.

I hope the Serevent discus works for me too..!
works

I use QVAR, since I had weird side effects with Flovent. 2 puffs of 50mcg
QVAR doesn't seem to have quite as much effect as 2 puffs of 125mcg Flovent,
though, even though I was told that was the equivalent dose...
