Hi ,I'm new here but needed some feedback ,badly. Last night i went to bed
at around 10 ish only to be woken up in a total panic three hours later ,i
couldn't breath in or out ,it was like my lungs just weren't working (it
took almost 2 miniutes to start breathing again ) my blue puffer (ventolin
helped)so did my husband :).Has anyone out there had this happen to them
(and no it's not sleep apthnea) ?I felt like i was going to die ,now it's a
few hours before bed time and i truly don't want to go to sleep because of
this ............ I am asthmatic but usually I'm fine if i don't have a cold
(though i do tend to get bronchitis about 6 times per year and pneumonia 2
times atleast per year , I've always had rotten lungs and my cough always
sounds like a whooping cough (it;s exhausting and I'm only 33) ......but
right now I'm cough free (it's rare ) . Thank you to anyone for any
input....Ellie

Call Your Doctor! (If I were your husband I would have taken you to
the ER.)

Y o u say you don' have sleep apnia! You probably have emphysema as
well. You need good care. If you are anywhere close to a University
with a medical school, look for a lung specialist there. Yes I am
saying this to alarm you. So you will get help.

If you're on long-acting medications, e.g., Singulair, Advair, they sound
like they're not working and you ought to discuss that with your doctor
asap. If you aren't on them, it sounds like you ought to be.

Take it serious Ellie,
I never thought it would happen to me either, but during a severe asthma
attack in 1995 my breathing completely shut down to the point where I went
into full respiratory and cardiac arrest. The paramedics performed CPR on
me on my front porch. I was extremely lucky. My point is not to let your
guard down ever and take your asthma very seriously.
I have a website with all the research I compiled on the relationship
between asthma and the bacteria Chlamydia pneumoniae and mycoplasma at
http://www.AsthmaStory.com if you're interested. I no longer have asthma.
