My daughter has mild Asthma. When she is running, we think she might
be mistaking heavy breathing with Asthma symptoms.

Can someone give me some help with how she can distinguish the
difference?

Thanks!

Wheezing is a strong indicator of asthma.  I have the same problem.  If in
doubt I just use my inhaler or nebulizer.  If I am not having an asthma
attack my breathing returns to normal quite quickly.  I just did a stress
test for my heart and my breathing was back to normal in a little over a
minute.  Please note that this is what *I* do.  Compare that with what her
doctor says.  Another major factor is the cause of asthma.  Mine seems to be
both irritants (mainly) and very occasionally physical exertion.  You need
to find out exactly what sets her off.

BTW, a few years ago an asthmatic swimmer was a record-breaking Olympian.
He is set off by CHLORINE!!!!!!!!

While wheezing is a good indication of asthma, the lack of wheezing does
not rule out asthma.  I have chronic severe asthma but I do not wheeze
that often.

True.  I have had attacks that did not cause any noticeable wheezing.
