Hello,

I am relatively 'new' to asthma but have had 3 serious attacks this year,
two of which resulted in ambulance journeys to A&E.

Over the last 6 months I have learned a lot about all the various triggers -
what a nightmare! I'm convinced mine has something to do with dust or damp
but cannot yet be sure. I now have an Allergy Dyson, no curtains, wooden
floors and no pets or cuddly toys! I work much harder trying to keep dust
down but still my peak flow is very low (150), especially when I wake in the
morning.

I am considering purchasing Astex covers for my mattress, pillows and duvets
from www.acpsolutions.co.uk and note these are approved by Allergy UK (
http://www.allergyuk.org ) but, apart from publicity materials published by
Astex I have been unable to find any endorsements of these products. Which
Magazine have no information and I can find no independent endorsement
online. My doctor was not convinced these products make much difference.

Can anybody here tell me whether these products have made a noticeable
difference (or not) to them or to their friends or family?

I'd be very interested to know before I spent the £200, which is a lot of
money to me but I would gladly spend it if I knew that for some folk these
products really did improve their quality of life.

Many thanks for any information you can provide.

Sincerely,

Ralph Martin.

Purchasing dust mite proof encasements for your bed, pillow and duvets is
probably the best investment you can make to avoid allergens inside your home.
It is the one "no brainer" when it comes to allergen avoidance.  Don't forget
to wash all of your bedding in hot water.

Hello,

Just a line to thank you for taking the time to reply. I have now ordered
these items and an awaiting delivery. I'll post again on what I think about
how good these products are and whether they make any difference to my
particular condition.

Thanks again

Ralph.
