anyone been on a ventilator from having an asthma attack?

i had a hard scare at 37.

no advair
breathing treatments one after another,
couldn't catch my breath and the RT's told me that i messed up my O2 levels.
and doesn't help trying to clean house with pine sol and no venting

this happened June of 2001

now this year, i feel like my throat keeps closing up, not sure if that is
an allergy or am i having another horrid asthma attack. i live 20 miles from
the nearest ER and even i am shocked my prednisone is not working, am
tapering down to one a day for the next 3 days but still short of breath. i
thought it was the humidity but at the time i checked there wasn't much. now
it is back at 95%.

please pray that i don't end up back in the hospital. i don't want my kids
in there either this year, way too young for this, but being on a ventilator
scared the crap out of me and i don't wish that on anyone. i was on it for
like 3 hours and took them another 2 to take it out.

anyways, that is my vent for this evening.
i will be hoping i don't have to go to ER in the morning.

The main thing is to do whatever it takes to keep your symptoms under
control and don't wait to go in for treatment when you think you're
getting sick. That should reduce the chances that you you'll ever have
to be intubated again.
