first off the general assumption that pollution is one of the biggest
preciptators for illness is not a known idea to most of America. If what I
just stated is true and I honestly to God think it is, that just living in
certain areas can affect lifespans and quality of health by decades even,
then just being and getting this known is important. Assuming though
pollution is causing pain and death and illness in amounts that are not yet
totally measureable, what can be done, and who to sue? First off , the
people and industries that pump out this poison en mass! I don't think the
correlations about how important this is to detriment of health is out there
so surely the limitations on all those that are polluting is not known. We
as a society don't want to be honest about telling people of the full
consequences of pollution, so how can anyone expect anyone to fully decipher
what amoont of pollution levels are safe? Having said that , the worse
polluters like coal companies and auto makers can and need to do more sooner
, not in 2020. The rich suffice to say who are in the know live on Cape cod
and in Hawaii and places in Colorado resorts and tropical islands, the rest
of us will be poisoned thru gov policies that must know of the consequences
but allows it anyway. The costs to make auto emissions safer and make
industry smoke stacks safer in my eyes is worth it when I now know the costs
of lost productivity and lost health from pollution. This is the most
defining issue affect health for billions of people today. What good is high
productivity in polluted areas if your going to die or lose your health much
sooner. What good is fighting crime if we don't care about the health for
kids who are being poisoned often in inner cities? I have recently by the
way saw the results of tests from air filters in homes in high pariculate
places and MY GOD , this was like looking at films back in the 60s of the
consequences of smoking and taking a look at the lungs of smokers. I have
never ever expected what I was about to see.

Karen, we disagree with certain things but never to this extent. Trust me on
this one. I took it upon myself to just do one test. Gosh.. I can imagine
how smarter and brighter and people with more education could do even more
to prove these associations between ill health and pollution .But anyway , I
have the filter from home in Philadelphia and not near industry by the
way. This is from three weeks of normal pollution, mostly in the end of
August when pollution was not warning levels but high moderate levels. you
are free to do your own test. If you saw it you might take a different
account if this isn't harmful. I am more admant now then anything in my life
ever besides telling people to not smoke. I am totally convinced we are
being poisoned and I beg for people with more power to do more now, not
twenty years from now but now. Its probably too late for me because after
seeing what an average furnace filter collected in this area, mulitiplied
over years does and will have done, you will or anyone objective will get a
better idea what is happening. Now one doesn't have to be a brain scientist
to then do the same thing for a clean environment. Truthfully Karen I didn't
have to make this test and I can't guaranteee that a cleaner environment
would make for a cleaner filter but I will say this. if the Avervage person
in this area is breathing this amount of pollution. there is no way in Hell
, they wouldn't be affected in the negative. This is way more then you might
be prepared to see and accumulated over three weeks. I want to move more
then ever but it may be too late for me. I urge youKaren cause you seem
bright to see what dark particulates might do to you over time and what you
might have enjoyed if your body didn't have to deal with this. For the more
sensitive out there I can now see how this causes cancers and diseases and
lung problems and I now see its almost impossible to believe that objective
people can rationalize this as unimportant or uneffectual in causing
disease. Thats all I can say. Anyone from news media is free to see what
this filter has collected in this area. To do the tests to show what people
who live in clean areas have in the way of benefits or health compared to
those that don't should not be hard to prove. I now more then ever in my
life see it. Every day in this poison is not like smoking one cig a day its
like smoking many if this filter is any indication and this test was not
done in warning level pollution either!!!
