Here's an interesting tidbit from May's issue of Thorax
which suggests a dietary role of antioxidants in asthma.

asthma is considered a mal function of the immune system in Tibetan
Medicine (TM). Asthma is treated in TM with herbal pills containing a
lot of biological active substances such as antioxydants. research
done by Ginsburg et all. in Inflammopharmacology 1999;7(1): (47-62)
shows that some Tibetan Herbal Pills have a high antoxidative effect.
Tibetan Medicine is quite succesfull in the treatment of allergic
diseases and part of the succes may be caused by antioxydants.

Holiness the Dalai Lama)
