Thanks for the heads-up. I used to play piano with one of her old bass
players, Leroy Jackson (who had been with Bird, Prez, etc). He told some
pretty good tales about her and the early days...

Yeah, I know it's Billie's birthday, my brothers and I go to her grave
and leave flowers every year, and on holidays. She is buried right
across from my dad in St. Raymond's Cemetary in the Bronx. The plot has
been there for years, my grandparents are there too. When I was a
little girl and we would bring flowers to my grandparents, I always
saved Billie a flower and brought it to her. It was sad, no one ever
seemed to come. Lately, there have been stones on top of her stone, and
some plastic flowers, so someone else must be going too.
