Twice in my life I have had a persistent cough. My doctor believed it
is asthma and I agree.  I really have never had weezing or shortness of
breath, but this time I can tell I do slightly on occasion.  Last time
he gave me 2 inhalers. I kind of used them and the cough went away.
Now, 2 years later, the persistent cough is back.

My question is is there anything I can do other than go to the Dr. and
get 2 inhalers?  I mean, it seems to me that if this is only occuring
every 2 years,  it will go away by itself and I need temporary relief.
My other thought was it could be something in my house/surroundings
stimulating it.  The first time it happened in Feb (in Chicago) and
this time it is summer (in Chicago), so season doesn't seem to matter.

Look up Web materiial on GERD and cough and if you think you have GERD,
even without the usual heartburn symptoms, consider seeing a specialist
such as an ENT doctor and not a pulmonologist.  Hope this may help,
