My husband recently got a book on the benefits of water: ("Your body's many cries for water") The recommended dosage is based upon your body weight. Divide your weight by 2 and that's how many ounces a day you should drink.

There were studies on how helpful it is for Everything, not just asthma but cancer, arthritis, heart problems, diabetes, you name it.

Taking medications would increase the body's need for water to flush out the toxic side affects. The yogies have done this for years. Modern science is finally recognizing just how important this is. Make sure your water is filtered taking out the chlorine and other possible contaminants. Also just a sprinkle of salt added to each glass helps it to work better.

Anyone read this?

I've seen plenty of notes, both published in journals and by local
physicians that say people today don't drink enough water.  Never heard
much about the salt, though.

Just make sure you don't get into the bottled water craze...in most
areas, bottled is less regulated than tap and you don't know what you'll
get.  As an envrionmental engineer, I'd recommend just running the tap
until the water runs cold....generally cheaper and better for you than
bottled.

Yes, I've heard that about bottled water. We use a filter on our tap water.

Pretty much expected. You failed to look into it before you posted.
Rae - 22 Jun 2005 01:00 GMT
And as expected, you most likely spent a little time to seek out an
*opposing* view point.

FWIW, I had an MD tell me to drink *at least* 8 glasses a day. Now how does
that jive with your opinion?

It's not hard to find an opposing view to just about anything. I suspect
there are even those who would argue the earth is flat!

As I expected you started another dead end thread. I'm pretty much agreeing
with others to killfile you at this point.

We've been through all this before and rejected it. But keep trying. You
might actually find something we haven't seen before. 'course no one will be
reading by then.

whatever it fervently desires and calmly and persistently expects."

     Joy to U Ms Joy.

We can agree to disagree. Nothing wrong with that.

Snopes is widely recognized for being a fair and well researched point
of view.

Half the malarky out there is put out by MD's. Next time ask him what
this is based upon. I'll bet you get a very vague answer.

Yeah, but it is pretty easy to find opposing POV's for some things.
Often all you have to do is check with websites that debunk Internet
rumors and urban legends.

Doc,

No problems from me with you.You know how I hate all this "junk" (put
politely), coming up over and over and over again by people who are JUST TOO
LAZY to read the archives. Or people who think it is Ok to fail and lurk and
learn. I just see it as a total waste of time to rehash the same stuff,
particularly in light of the fact that we haven't found the answer for
everyone and time could be put to much better use. There is an answer, but
it can't be in the past or we wouldn't have already rejected it (that is,
supplements et. al.)

Rae, I know that I don't view it as a disagreement. I view the problem as
someone who has failed to do their homework before joining the discussion.
Do you or do you not know how to "google" the newsgroup?

Joy
Rae - 22 Jun 2005 02:28 GMT
I do now. But when you try to go back and back track, it's rather time
consuming. Guess I am lazy in that regard.

I have to say though, that I am really surprised that anyone would disagree
so strongly with our body's need for water and our over consumption of
things that are bad for us like soft drinks, coffee, etc.

This was quite a surprise.

SURPRISED.

Oh my goodness. I cannot believe my ears. It's rare to hear a doctor knock
another doctor. I have to respect that!

Didn't have to spend any time. I have been around and read all the threads
in the past dealing with this subject, and rejecting it I might add. Perhaps
you would like to read more then the simple web page I sent you? I can
produce hours of reading to prove my point. I just didn't think you would
read it .
