New here, and only a possible asthmatic right now - they started me on
Salbutamol, which I found never worked, then they moved me to
Pulmicort, which seemed to work for a week then stopped again, then
moved me to Simbacort, which was working but... well, now I've got the
flu and I can't even tell, really. Anyway, so that's a short
background of how it's gone.
I've had a fever of over 100 for four days now, sore throat, entire
body aches, and today I've started coughing. Not sleeping well at
night, basically, generally? Just a wreck, unsurprisingly. But when I
try and find something I *can* take to ease the symptoms, all I'm
finding are lists of what I *can't* take. Which I already know. :/
So, if anyone can tell me anything I *can* use - especially for the
sore throat - I'd be thrilled.

If it took less than two weeks average to get an appointment, trust me,
I'd be there.

Most health plans have some provision for 'urgent care' Is there a
clinic you can go to tomorrow?

G'day Kasnik, well you quite obviously are aware of all the hot lemon
juice kinds of things, but one very helpful assistive thing that was
given to me more than thirty years ago was to make a chicken broth kind
of soup loaded with simple vegetables and sliced ginger (plenty of it)
This has been used successfully now by dozens of asthmatics without
problem and not only soothes the inflamed area but also the saltiness
helps to reduce infection.
Sounds to simple to help much doesn't it!!
Anyone trying it never lose the idea.
Cheers, Merlin.

My recipe for treating congestion is chicken broth with two
smashed and diced gloves of fresh garlic simmered on low
for maybe five minutes, with a pinch of cayenne pepper.
It gets every thing moving in my lungs and sinuses.
However, Kasnik said flu--and if it is the flu and he is an
asthmatic, I hope he can see the doctor.
