Colin Campbell - 20 Feb 2005 18:02 GMT Well, my tour in Iraq is over. I am currently at Fort Lewis, WA and start processing off of active duty on Tuesday.
I expect to be home sometime in the next 7 to 10 days.
I notice the air cleaner people are back - and just as annoying as ever.

ARoberts - 20 Feb 2005 19:12 GMT Welcome back Colin! I'm glad that you are safe and well. One of the guys who works for me just got back from Afghanistan and is enjoying his adjustment back to civilian life (although it will probably be temporary--he did a tour in Bosnia last year, and there's always Iraq...).

Air filtration is the least effective method. Even with air filtration that meets the Military Standard 282(?) there are no studies (at least as of a year ago) that conclusively state that it is effective for people with allergies/asthma.

It's like those air freshener commercials I see. I keep talking back to the woman who complains about her daughter's stinky laundry, "Wash her clothes!" Same with the bathroom airfresheners. It is on this general principle that I have no wall-to-wall carpeting and few draperies in my house. Makes it easier to clean.
joe - 22 Feb 2005 20:12 GMT Colin.....I agree air cleaner is not the best method.......UV AIR sterilizer is
read this you will find this interesting facts from DoD I just placed 1 link which is unclassified.
http://www.defenselink.mil/transcripts/2003/t03032003_t0303chembio.html
and this is the results I got from DOD
Searched 10,880,168 pages for uv germicidal ------ most unclassified www.dod.gov
you can verify yourself.......and since you have security clearance you can view some of the Classifieds too....if you need more I got some from US ARMY, US NAVY, USAF, etc...and about 500 in http://www.dhs.gov/dhspublic/ so far
and if you require one.......let me know I have them at a cheaper price...and if you find someone cheaper let me know so I can push that instead of mine.........
YES it is time to work together instead of against each other.......good jobs are disappearing......My products are made by Americans, Materials by Americans, sold by an American and sold in a Quality Americana Way, stereotyped in Grand Americana way and criticized & burned at the stake by the old Americana way (witch hunt)........and .....well.......... GOD BLESS AMERICA

Yeah, but one thing has probably changed. I think Richard actually managed to get rid of the B folks! By siding with them, no less! They have missed the last few times to jump in when the subject comes up. Well, I hope that lasts as I am sure you do.

Thank the Good Lord, the Voice of Reason has returned!!. I don't know what I prayed for harder, your safe return, or the return of your bullshit barometer for this group (OK, yeah, the safe return!). You have NO IDEA what it was like without you here!!
Now maybe we can get back to discussing asthma and treatments and not this insanity that has been going in in here.
Finally!

[quoted text clipped - 25 lines] > > Your arms do not appear to be broken. How's your backbone? My backbone is as good as ever. The reason that there have been few posts from me is because there were no serious discussions going on. It was all sniping and trolling and name calling. I could go to my nephew's third grade class and hear more intelligent conversation. Every time someone has an opinion, there are 5 posts ready to tear that person and opinion to shreds. So what is the point? There isn't any meaningful discussion, so why even bother?
I'm sincerely hoping that this will change. This has always been an informative group, even when we were inundated by the B* lunatics and the insane ozone salesmen. We used to save our best flames for them, not each other.

Why would I bring up a serious topic when it is more than obvious that it will not get any serious consideration. I've been part of this group for a long time, made several contributions and asked a hell of a lot of questions. There has never been a time in this group, since I have been here, that flame wars erupt over the most innocent of questions.
So the answer to your question is no. After seeing the amount of garbage thrown around here in the last few months, it would have been fruitless. The good old-timers are still here (in length of time in the group, not in age) like CBI, Jack, and now Colin is back. There is hope that sharing information will start again. Like I said, I have gotten the answer to a great many questions here, and I would like to see this group return to its former glory

There have been changes the acceptance of Dr Hahn's theory, which was at one time. most controversial. The group, in its former glory was wrong.
And no person can return the newsgroup to a former state when the behavior of newbie's has changed so dramatically. That is what I see as the difference. No one seeks information anymore. They want to brow-beat us with their opinion Witness BradChad,. Merlin, Joe, Polly, Mary. I usually wait days before I resort to their tactics. Tell me why I should wait.

About Dr. Hahn's theory, you are correct. It affects a specific group of asthmatics, as do most theories about asthma. No treatment is good for every person. The information that you and NorthShore (I think it was) shared about the antibiotics was wonderful, and I was hoping it would also work on me, which, alas, it did not. I think we spoke about it once before, and if I remember correctly, you surmised that it seems to help people with adult onset asthma more than those of us born with it.
As far as the others, those are the people I was speaking about, not you. Yes, you end up in the middle of it, but definitely not without provocation. That is one of the reasons I have largely remained a lurker, which I never really did on this board. It is very frustrating, I know, to listen to people who don't have a clue about what they are pontificating on, ramble on and on and on. I know that, like you, I would have ended up in the middle of it if I answered them. That may have been a passive approach as Mary suggests, but it was the best way for me. There are only so many times you hit your head against the wall.
I didn't mean that Colin would single handedly wave a magic wand and all of those people would fade away. I guess what I have always admired about Colin was he could tell a scam and/or an idiot a mile away. I can remember reading posts in the past and wondering "Is this person for real?" Usually Colin's reply post was right on the money, and nine times out of ten exactly what I thought. You weren't here for the Cell Salt lady. All I can say to that is "Oh my". That was an experience, LOL.
Keep putting the good info out there Joy. I'm going to do my best to not get bogged down in the crap and stick with the good stuff. Patience in this instance, I think, does pay off. They will fade eventually, and the people who want to and need to discuss real info on asthma will stick around.

No treatment is good [quoted text clipped - 30 lines] > Nancy > 8=: ) Thanks Nancy. I sometimes wonder how it is I keep ending up being the brunt of all this name calling. I surely don't spare words in my distain of the B* folks -I have gotten used to their usual responses. I have personal experience with that method which, if I share my experience, results in the worst behavoir! But lately, from being called a "moron" by Merlin, to "bully, peon, and oxymoron" from Joe, and on and on in between those, I just have lost patience. These people come in here and decide that is the way to act. Like BradChad calling everyone lazy while he posted the same post over and over and over again. I just think it is incredible that they think they are going to attract anyone to their side. So like so many other regulars, my killfile is getting filled. What if we decided to invite all Joe's competitors to Spam us? Perhaps they would be more interested in selling instead of resorting to name calling when asked to produce documentation.
I still think it is the way the new people act that is the problem though, and don't see an end to it. I certain won't mind any help from Colin, but I think there has been a change.

invite other competitors............................................ good......makes the price go even lower.......more money for you to enjoy with your kids.....instead of spending TOP dollar on a same technology.....or chemicals
name calling when asked to produce documentation........well you bombarded other users with your Higher education highfalutin language..........................................

Chill out........learn the finer ways to treated with respect..........
Help from Colin ....I think she is a very respectable person.....who listens and researches the TRUTH.......Not chemicals.....alone
She does not need your type of trouble yet.......she Just finished serving her Country......"Thank you Colin"
I still think it is the way the new people act that is the problem though,
> and don't see an end to it......................................... and you do not have a problem?..........chill out and see the natural process. ........if you attack.....you will see defenses....
...........if you let go......the SPAM that you "think" will disappear .....now remember your thoughts are different from other's, they may view your SPAM as informative material.....
but please stop pushing Drugs/chemicals .......well unless you are holding Stocks......

I've been ignoring most of the postings for the last few weeks: they seem to be more of the same...
Thanks for bringing up the Mineral Salts Lady. We may deserve a weeky reprise of some of her posts, examples of Unremitting Faith .
Looking forward, with Hope, to a more amusing and informative newsgroup
