Has anybody tried tongkat ali for arthritis. I understand that this
herb or root is primarily used for sexual purposes. But there are
claims that it helps in arthritis. This is what I saw on
www.tongkatali.org/abouttongkatali.htm:

"Tongkat ali (pasak bumi) is widely used in Southeast Asia not just to
enhance sex drive and the power to perform sexually, but for a wide
range of ailments. It has scientifically been proven to help in the
prevention and treatment of malaria, and it is used as a therapy for
fatigue, migraine, and arthritis, though such applications have so far
not been scientifically validated."

(eurycoma longifolia) sold by Sumatra Pasak Bumi Co. has not been tested
in clinical trials or peer reviewed.

anecdotal evidence aside, this would appear to be taking a great risk
without better information.
