On May 30,2008 my husband was admitted to the hospital...the Dr. said I
need to put you in the hosp. to remove some fluid.Eighty-five pounds of
fluid was removed from my husband. On June 16, 2008 he was to be
discharged from the hosp. and go home, but he couldn't get out of bed
or walk. So he was transferred to a rehab hosp. nearby. My husband has
both forms of arthritis, diabetes and morbid obesity--about 150 -200 lb.
over weight. He has a bad left knee and has a knee brace for it. My
husband always says his joints (knees and hips) are worn out. Will he
ever be able to walk again?

Hhhhm, A better question might be will he eat correctly and continue to
loose weight? Will he slowly build his leg muscles back up to be able to
walk? After doing both of already said, he should have the knee looked at
by someone that understands his condition. By the way, the diabetes part
of his problem should be paid attention to because it would be a shame to do
all this to get back to walking only to loose part of his leg to diabetes.
What kind of medicine does he take for his arthritis?

He takes Methotrexate and Plaquenil for the rhuematoid arthritis...
Lortab as needed for the r/a pain.

I was on that for about 8 years and when it slowly did not control my RA
anymore, I tried Arava for awhile and then moved on to Enbrel which has
taken care of things until now. Good luck with it all and he is a lucky
man to have you backing him up.
