Has anyone tried low-dose Prednisone (1-5 mg.) daily for aches and
pains?

Hi  Sy,,, Yes,   off and on for over 20 years.   If taken continually for a
long period of time causes ulcers of the stomach, thinning of the bones and
skin.
A person needs to find out what kind of arthritis they have and let that be
treated by an Rheumatologist.   Last count, there are over 170 different
types treated by this kind of doctor.

Hi Harvey,

I realize that Prednisone is a potent drug with all the side effects
that you mention and more, but I am considering VERY low doses because
my experience with it a few months ago made it seem miraculous.

Other OTC drugs give me very problematic effects and are much less
effective.  In any event I am getting my full Physical on Monday and
will ask him what he thinks.

Thanks for your feedback.

Well, I wish you better luck than I had.   I found that about a third
(bottom part of both lungs is nothing but scar tissue and the reason that I
get soooo winded and so slow to recover.  Ct scans of the area showed the
bright shinny scar tissue and the person that does the report said that it
was either Rheumatoid Lung or some kind of fibrosis.
I have not smoked since 1983 but more than 2 packs a day up to that time
and I am sure some of it is from that.  My family doctor thinks I could of
gotten a virus that is kind of like Mono that did the damage....  I have a
lung doctor appointment coming up and like you will find out more,,,, I
hope.  I am 68 and will no longer act like a teenager with RA.   Its
strictly the old fart type stuff until someone comes up with a plan.  LOLOL
Maybe that is the plan. LOL
