Maybe this is not the right newsgroup but can anyone comment on the
following or direct me to another more appropriate newsgroup to ask
this question:

My mother, aged 72,  recently developed Carpal Tunnel Sydrome
approximately six months ago for unknown reason. Symptoms first
developed in left hand and then approximately a week later developed
in right hand with characteristic PIns and Needles in all fingers
except little fingers.

Condition is not work related to such things as RSI associated with
computer keyboard use etc as she has been retired some 12 years before
this condition developed. GP prescribed thyroxine believing thyroid to
be at fault despite a somewhat negative test on the gland. Prescribed
medication has made no difference since start of mediation some three
months ago.

Could anyone advise on the possible cause of this condition and if
this is associated with any form of arthritis. Would anyone have any
suggested remedies for  pain/pin and needles reduction.

Many thanks for any advice

Please get her to a doctor and find out where pressure is happening on a
nerve or nerves to cause the pins and needles problem.    It may all fall
back on what caused the Carpal Tunnel.
