1. Glucosamine+Chondroition 500mg&400mg
Two Tablets a day
2. Glucosamine 1500mg
I am taking the no: 1 and one friend
of mine suggested to start taking the
no: 2 one tablet a day.
I would appreciate the views of users
to recommend which one is more effective
and more beneficial in long terms.
Thanks.

I am now taking 1500 mg glucosamine, and 1500 mg MSM.
It's only been awhile since I've started to take them again, and I know I
will get relief.
IMHO, from all the orthopaedics I've seen, (moved around a lot), and my
family docs, also, along with all the vets I've had treat my dogs with hip
displaysia, or arthritis, ALL have told me not to bother with 'chondroitin'.
This however, has been MY experience. They all said it does nothing, is an
incredible waste of $$$.
Check out the prices, I just bought 200 of these tabs at Sam's Club, for $16
a couple of weeks ago! This is as opposed to any other form with
chondroitin, prices were up to and some, over $50 for 100 tabs!
All I can do is share my own experience. Others may have gained some relief
with the chondroitin.
My dogs, especially Rudy, my golden retriever, who will turn 14 on
Valentine's Day, and Ceilidh, soon to be 9, have benefitted greatly by
glucosamine with Vit C.
Rudy has lots of arthritis, in hips and all down his spine, Ceilidh has very
odd hips, no ball in the hip joint, from puppyhood!!!
Ortho vets and other vets have all seen her x-rays and can not believe that
she isn't totally crippled in her hips, dragging her back legs behind her.
Both of these dogs romp all over the place, with Rudy only needing a few
aspirins, after an unusually rambunctious time. :)
(Ceilidh, not too badly spoiled, <heh> will lie on top of a heating pad,
covered with a towel, or let me place one on top of her hips. At these times
she will also get an aspirin.)
I'm so sold on it from their results that I've finally gotten around to
starting back up on it myself. I did get a lot of relief, OA, and I can't
remember why I stopped a couple of years ago.
Hope that helps,
MaryBeth :)

I give them Gluco-C usually from Fosters & Smith catalog, they're online,
google them. If you need help e-mail me. :)
I'd drop the Chondroitin, you'll save so much $$$, it's amazing. You can buy
human form Gluco, and use that, too.
I recently picked some up at PetSmart, Nutri-Vet 'Hip & Joint'.
They contain 500 mg Gluco, 100 mg Vit C, 15 mg Zinc, 5 mg Manganese, 2 mg
Copper. 1/2 chewable tab. per 40 lbs of body weight twice daily. Seems to be
carrying on just fine.
I am planning on getting more from F & S, as they've done so well for over 8
yrs now on the Gluco-C.
Are you aware of the danger of Rimadyl? I don't want to scare you as most
vets will let you know of the side effects. Of course, if/when my dogs are
in pain, I would give Rimadyl, but only as a latter resort.
Hope that helps!
MaryBeth
