Adelle, thanks for the update on Alex. I had been thinking about him the
last week or so especially and still praying for him.
Jason Deal had trachial resection surgery in Atlanta, GA last week. His
chin is sewed to his chest so that the tissue in his throat (incision in
front of neck) will not be moved by the movement of his neck while it is
healing. He was to come home today but will go back next Monday to have the
stitches removed and hopefully the trach removed permanently. Since he
already has a rod in his neck, he has been in much pain from the surgery and
the position of his head and neck. They could not give him enough morphine
to ease the pain.
Lorrie, his mom, is just exhausted and Allen has been going back and forth,
trying to keep his work going and help out with Jason. One of them stays
with him all the time. Poor Lacey has been staying with different families
and going to school. She has not had parents this whole school year because
they have been so involved with Jason. We are all praying that this surgery
will end his breathing problems and he can get on with his recuperation and
be able to stay at home.

Oh. That's terrible.

I'm so sorry Jason's recuperation is so difficult. The whole family is going
through such a terrible ordeal. I hope Lacey has someone she can talked to
about her feelings. Being the healthy child in this kind of situation is do
difficult. You have needs, too, but feel guilty about having them because
someone else's needs are so apparent and huge.
I'll continue prayers for Jason.
Alex's family has been fortunate. Alex is the younger child. The older one
is in college and really stepped up to the plate to help keep the household
going in terms of errands and such (coming back from the dorms whenever
needed). Both employers have been very compassionate. Sharon and Jeff,
Alex's parents, alternated days (and nights) so someone would be with Alex
all the time, but neither would get too burnt out.

HI,
Alex and Jason and their families will be in my thoughts and prayers.
