Hi, Everyone;
Things here are the usual ;-p
Busy with the kids, Winter depression (SAD) has kicked in full gear leaving
me fairly ineffectual, sister went through major mental health problem, and
now it looks like the company Doug works for is folding. He got a paycheck
for the 15th, but doesn't know about the 31st. CEO hasn't done an official
layoff, because he's hoping to call everyone back next Monday. But that
means Doug can't apply for unemployment because he's not officially laid
off.
His resume is done. He has an appt with a headhunter for Wednesday. He's
networking with friends and with people who used to work for the same
company. Prayers for luck and quickly finding rewarding employment would be
appreciated.
I'm in the kicking myself stage. We could really use a second income. But,
employment for me is unrealistic until I get the depression and IBS under
control (the RA is responding well to the Plaquenil). But I have reacted so
badly to anti-depressants in the past (got worse, had muscle spasm issues,
etc.) that I feel overwhelmed by the prospect of trying to find a good doc
and then experimenting with the drugs. It's not a quick fix for me; it's
going to be a process. Plus there is the insurance issues. If I do these
things now under the COBRA (or regular insurance, we don't know which, yet),
will that exclude treatment under the new employer's plan?
In the meantime, we are applying for a home equity line of credit, just in
case it takes time for Doug to find something. We can probably still get one
until the shutdown is final (I hope). And that will give us some operating
room once the savings is gone (which will be pretty quick).
(sigh)

((((Adelle))))
I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the job
situation works out quickly. I hate that feeling of not knowing when or if
the next check will come in.
My mom suffers from SAD most years and this one is no exception. The
horrible gray, wet NW winters are awful I certainly hope you find something
that works for you.

(((((((((((adelle & doug)))))))))))))))) keeping you in my prayers
have you tried light therapy for the SAD? any help there? it's so hard to
decide on things in the midst of SAD.
meanwhile, as long as you are covered under a group health plan, which you
will be with COBRA, they can't hit you with any pre-existing condition under
the new employer's plan - we had to work this out recently, it's part of what
was passed under Clinton.
