At The Risk Of Sounding Like A Whiner

Jack - 08 Jan 2006 13:09 GMT It all went to hell this fall. The musculoskeletal system collapsed within a two-month period.
Large, complex torn meniscus that requires partial removal, right knee; left heel spur with plantar fasciitis; bilateral bicipital tendinitis that feels like two knives; trapezius tear that just won't heal; small hernia vs. groin muscle tear. One thing after another within a two-month period.
Just turned 62 and had been lifting weights for the past 36 years, and jogging 4 miles daily, 7 days a week since '97; 3 days a week '86-'97.
Blasting throughout the American media since the 1960s has been the message: Use it or lose it.
But no one ever said: Overuse it and lose it.
And now to prepare mentally for a life of being a zombie vegetable.

It does work!
Take care,

Walking 4 miles a day will burn the same calories as jogging it, without the knee damage. Better yet, biking will let you burn the same calories AND get your heart rate up, without the knee damage.
You're 62 and you're still working out the same way you did when you were 26? Don't you think that might be a tad unrealistic?

Harvey R. Stone - 08 Jan 2006 14:59 GMT Hi Jack,,,, Welcome to ASA. Whiner,,,whiner,,,, I will show you a whiner. LOLOL But not today. Adjusting to a changing body does not make you a zombie vegetable. My oldest son has had to make the same adjustments and he is in his upper 40s. Like you, he played very hard and his candle burned very bright. You and he will learn how you spend your time in the future with exercise still in your future,,,, only different ways to exercise. Your system will not like this change but your heart still needs to be strong with good circulation. Please do not just sit on your buttttt after you recover from what ever procedures it takes to make your joints useable. Come back here and talk about what takes place because there are soooo many people just like you that need to know what to do for it and you can tell them,,,, help them to adjust to a different lifestyle. Why not just work on getting treatment and then letting yourself heal up, followed by a very slow return to a more reasonable exercise program for your body?

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor: http://www.abmdr.org.au/ http://www.marrow.org/

Much like the virtues of losing weight to look good and stay healthy don't generally have the warnings about anorexia in the same article. But the information is around.

aaronmp2003@gmail.com - 10 Jan 2006 12:14 GMT Jack,
Tahitian Noni Juice has helped a lot of people with plantar fasciitis, as well as tendonitis, and many other general health issues as well. Many people have reported both anti-inflammatory effects as well as increased circulation as a result of using the juice, and both of those help with anything that ends in "itis". Give it a read and decide for yourself, or contact me if you have any questions:

aaronmp2003@gmail.com - 11 Jan 2006 12:48 GMT Ah, yes... the eternal "naysayers" who think that any product that is supported by network marketing MUST be crap.
If you'll take the time to read my original post, it says - and I quote, "Give it a read and decide for yourself, or contact me if you have any questions".
Whether you are talking about an exercise program, a health supplement, or a new way to wax your car, there are always going to be hundreds of products, thousands of opinions, and countless people who aren't willing to do research before they decide to purchase - or NOT purchase - a product.
Tahitian Noni Juice works, and it's effectiveness is not on trial, so I will not waste time trying to defend it. Like I said, read for yourself. The company has done more than $3 billion in cumulative sales, so either their products work, or they have successfully pulled off the biggest scam in the history of mankind.
Either way, though, it's your choice to make an informed decision on your own, or to blindly believe that everything that doesn't fit into the "normal" advertising/marketing scheme MUST be a scam of some kind.
Personally, I hope you'll take the time to get educated, and I welcome anyone to contact me or the company for more information. However, if you want to stay in the dark, that is your perogative.
I own and maintain several different health and fitness websites, I've been working in the fitness industry for years, and I did months of research on the Tahitian Noni products and the company before I decided to endorse them, so I would appreciate it if you would keep your "this must be spam" comments to yourself.

You have no post predating this asking me to talk it over in e-mail...so besides trying to sell it in NG's I have Unsolcited Commercial E-mail in my Inbox.
So for being such a brainless boob you get reported not only to Google but to the company, too.
Seems there's now evidence from you that Noni drinking drops yer IQ. Ya know what? I can say anything I want about Noni because you have no bizness being here or at any NG selling it for any -itis.
Stay MILES away from my Inbox....or else.

Perhaps you can advise me I cannot get any sensible help from my doctor. Gym instructors are a bit vague, I am 67 year 13stone (182Ibs)ish kept myself reasonably fit, diet / exercise etc. A new gym has opened locally and I decide to vist . Ok I enjoy it. But my heart rate goes up to 155bpm easily when cycling but also recovers quickly. When exercising with weight equiptment (Not Actual weights) sometimes I exert to the extent of giddyness and sometimes the eyes get blurred. I quickly recover but what is happening and is there any damage being done during these periods. I could reduce the effort but then I don't feel as if I an achieving anything(no pain no gain). My reading has suggested the recommended BPM for my age and weight be 90 - 130 this is boring others have suggested a personal percieved BPM level, i.e. my body tells me when I've had enough. This is my current feeling. Any constructive comments most welcome

When your heart is not working to hard while riding the bike,,,, its time for weights. Lets say beating at 100 beats/min and that should take 10-15 min at a good pace. Harv
