Hello,
I came for advice before, stopped and now I'm back.
My Doctor put me back on Celebrex about 1 month ago, doesn't work, I have
severe osteoarthritis on both hips, but for the past few months, severe pain
on my left side, starting at the buttocks going down to my knee on the
outside of my leg, no pain in the groin like I used too when first
diagnosed.
One specialist told me it was some type of bursitis, give me a shot, no help
at all, talk to me about Celebrex, at the time I refused, I was taking 800
mgs of Ibuprofen three time daily, with little relief.
Two questions, is there any one on Celebrex in the group? and what other
alternatives do I have?
Thank you.

Hi KiKi,,,, My doctor kept me on Naprosyn for 5-6 years before handing me
over to a RD. Both IBU and NAP are hard on a persons insides and with
heavy use a regular stool test is in your future. I can only say that a
Rheumatologist can help you save some of what you have left in your joints
and knows when its time to have an operation or procedure done.

Thank you Harv, I just do not know what to take anymore, but going to the
Doctor next Wednesday, will ask for a referral for a Rheumatologist.

Hi KiKi,
I'm on Celebrex and Plaquenil.... You might need a couple of drugs
combined to help like I did. I was on Celebrex by itself too and same
as you didnt do a thing for me. Still have problems but nowhere near
the pain without the 2 drugs combined. Get Dr. to do the new RA test to
find out what the level is.
Best wishes and Good luck

Hello,
Went to my doc yesterday, x rays again, which I believe will not show
inflammation of the bursa (sorry about the spelling) on all left side,
starting at the buttocks down below the knee.
He put me on Prednisone, 60 mgrs for three Days, 40 mgrs for three, 30. and
so on.
The pain still there, can I mixed Darvocet with the Prednisone.
Thank you all ..

Thank you Rose, I need it, how long does it takes for Prednisone to take
effect?
I'm on my third Day ( 60 mgs ) and only mild relief.
Thanks
Kiki.

I would think that it should have started working by now as that is a
high dose. Everyone is different however, so give it time and see how
it goes. If it does not start working soon though Iwould make another
trip to the doctor as maybe something else is going on that is not of
an inflammitory nature.

Some doctors say that hidden (delayed) food sensitivities (allergies)
can trigger many cases of arthritis. Talk to a naturopathic doctor
(Yellow Pages) or an alternative doctor (www.acam.org) about this.
