We are sooooo excited! We just booked a cruise for the end of November.
We're going on The Majesty of the Seas run by Royal Carribean lines. We'll
be leaving from Miami, Florida, sailing to Nassau, then Cococay (their
private island) then to Key West and back to Miami. We are, at this moment,
planning to leave here early and driving to see our kids, then some friends
in North Carolina, and then down to Miami. We will take our time going there
and coming back. We have always wanted to go on a cruise and now we are. We
just decided that we're going to do some of the things we've always wanted
to do and this was one of them. WooooooooHoooooooo!!

DeeTee, that is wonderful. My MIL always told me to do the things we wanted
to do while we were young and felt like it because after we got old, we
might not be able to. I have been so glad that Grayson retired at 62 and we
did do some of the things we wanted to do--a cruise, flying to Hawaii twice
and going to lots of things in the States. I would have much more to live on
now if we had not done those things, but I'll always remember how much we
enjoyed them and don't regret one thing.

Way to go. I wasn't all that into taking the cruise we did last summer to
Alaska, but I must say I had a wonderful time. Its fun to not have to worry
about hauling your stuff from one hotel to the next every few days like we
usually do on a vacation.

Way to go DeeTee!!
You will Love it! Just got back from a 5 day (our first) cruise on
Splendour of the Seas by RCI. I think it's the same class ship you are on.
We sailed from Galveston. It was a very special trip and I enjoyed every
minute of it. My son did not stop eating for 5 solid days.

Gary, one of the things I enjoy on a cruise is trying foods that I would
never order to pay for in case I couldn't stand the taste. I loved
everything I tried!

You might look into rec.travel.cruises for info and Cruisecritic.com is a
wonderful sight. Message boards are geared all the down to your specific
ship and people who will be on it. Lots of newbie information as well.

sounds great - I've hear great things about Royal Carribean from folks who
have cruised with them. Got my fingers crossed for a calmer hurricane season
that ends early and for no big storms hitting your ports of call.

RCI was the cruise company my family went on. I got to stay home - :(
But they had nothing but good things to say about it. We upgraded to a
balcony cabin and my husband said it was definately worth the extra
money especially if I was bringing my scooter or walker as the regular
cabins are so small and you cannot keep them in the hallway like we
usually do with a scooter in a hotel. They went on Grandeur of the Seas
and to Mexico. I think we went on Majesty a few years ago and it was
wonderful as well. Diane W

DeeTee and Bob...That is great. Mike and I are going to try and do some of
the things we have always wanted to do...Mike bought a motorcycle last
summer, and we plan on making some trips on it. But I still want to go on a
cruise...I guess we could have our clothes shipped to say Florida and when
we ride the bike down there...Park it and get on a ship...LOL...

Handwashing is a real must for your safety on cruise ships. Just keep
washing: whenever you even think about washing your hands, wash them.
Anyone with health problems can enjoy a cruise and not have to be at
risk of some of the pathogens endemic to that environment. Hot prepared
meals and handwashing, and you won't have to worry. Enjoy the vacation!

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my

Well - we have a romantic getaway for my birthday in March. We're going to a
really neat hotel up in Amish country that has the room, breakfasts, and a
really neat treat basket as a package deal. That'll be the 20-22 March of
this year. Then in April or May we'll be going up to Toledo so Bob can
attend his first genealogy conference. He's been an avid geneaologist for
many years and this will be the first conference he's ever gotten to attend.
Then I am sure we can find something on our list for the summer months. In
the fall, we might run down (gee THAT sounds funny!) to Maryland to attend
the Renaissance Fair that we love so much. And, of course, right after the
cruise will be the Christmas season. So we're pretty full for the year. I
have to space these things out because it takes me about two weeks to
recover from each one. I'm just now getting over the cold I picked up on
the airplane coming home from Jamaica.

I would just once like to make a trip without catching a cold on the plane
either leaving or coming back home. I'm always just grateful if its on the
return so I don't ruin my trip.
I really think that in addition to being crowded into a plane with far too
many people, the extremely dry air make us very susceptible to anything we
might have been exposed to before the trip.

My aunt just took that zygam stuff (SP?) and it really did ease her
cold symptoms. It was amazing. DianeW

I have the Zicam Cold Remedy nasal spray, but I've only used it one time.
So really can't say how much it helped.
