Hi Diane,
Yeah, my dr thinks I've maxed out.  The dose has been fairly stable since
last spring.  We changed from MTX (25mg/wk) to Arava (20mg/day) in Oct to
see if we could get the remicade to last more than 4-5 weeks,  It seemed to
worked for the Dec infusion, but my hands and feet are flaring on this cycle
and I have 2 weeks 2 go until the next infususion.  I failed enbrel and
humira so we're running out of options.  We've talked about Orencia but
since my dr is leaving in Mar, I don't know if we will make the switch.

nothing has ever gotten my RA completely under control either.

I am at 7mg, but my third dose had no effect whatsoever. Like you, I am
running out of options, have gone thru MTX, Arava, Humira, and Enbrel.
Oh, and Preddy, which works wonders, as we know, but is not so good for
the long term.
I see my RD again on the 24th- we'll see what he suggests next.
Happy New Year!

Martin,
It took a while for us to find the right combination of dose and frequency.
I saw no effect at all until we hit 8 mg/kg every 6 weeks.  Are you taking
anything else besides Remicade and Pred

Yeah, Arava and Ibu. The Ib seems to be my most effective med, but it's
been more then 10 yrs I've taken 2400mg a day. I wonder how long my
stomach can take it?

Hi Martin,,,  Everyone is different on that.   I took prescription Naprosyn
about as long as you did with no problems even after I started DMARDs.   I
also took Arava for about a year without a lower problem but then my stomach
said,,,, enough,,, enough  and on a scope was red and inflamed.   The Arava
was stopped and it went away and Enbrel became my drug of choice.   Everyone
is different on that and as long as it works for you,,,, go for it.

Ibuprofen has always been the most effective NSAID for me, but I just
couldn't work withing its effective time frame.  The time when it wears off
and then waiting for the next dose to kick in would cost me 1.5-2 hours.

The longer acting NSAIDs aren't quite as effective as ibu for me, but it's a
joy to have them last longer.  I really miss Bextra though, it really lasted
me a full 24 hours!

Oh, I took widely varying doses of ibu (anywhere from 800-3200mg) for 12
years with no real somtach trouble, but of course YMMV.  I've had more
stomach trouble with my merry-go-round of NSAIDs since Bextra was pulled than
I ever had on ibu.
