My Uncle Dick [Nann - it is the Niebuhr] had a stroke yesterday. Third
hand -- they say he can not talk. He is already blind and can not watch
TV and now this. Pray for him and especially for my aunt Nancy. The
burden will be on her in their too big house they should have been out
of LONG ago.

Duckie, Prayers already on the way for your Uncle Dick and Aunt Nancy.  Are
they very elderly people?

Well, Nancy is my mother's baby sister -- she is 10 years younger than
my mother which would put her at 77. Dick is older. I just remembered
Nancy telling me that Dick had been having numb fingers the week before
we moved. Sure wish he had gone in to see his doctor then instead of
wondering what it was.
Thanks Gwen

Greetings,

I will be praying...

I'm one of the lurkers that have been on the list for over a year.. but
haven't found the "way in" till now.

I've had Juvenile Arthritis since I was 6. OA runs heavily in our family...
my mom, her brother and 4 sisters all had it..one had RA. All my cousins and
their kids had some form of OA (mild to moderate). Even all 3 of my kids
have started with symptoms while they were young.

Through the years ... I was always told ... " you loose what you don't use"
so I have pushed myself to always be active and do more than I should
have.... only recently has that changed... I had a pretty significant
flare...and developed myocitis(sp) and ended up with a quality RD. What a
relief... here I am at 53 and finally a doctor refers me to a RD and I can
get real scientific answers to why I hurt.. why I swell... all kinds of
things. He was the one who suggested I get on the internet and begin
interacting with others with the same conditions. I had already been lurking
...but the doctor got after me to get involved...so here I am. The RD
believes that I have RA beginning... and reading about it on this list gives
me a feeling that I am no longer "in the dark" and can begin to deal with my
situation with knowledge.

As I read how some of you suffer I look in the mirror and say " Do I belong
here?" but, as the Arthritis is reducing my mobility and making it much
harder to do all I am committed to do ... I do need to prepare myself.

Thank you all for your open sharing! I find so many of you inspiring as you
continue to go forward and do good things... regardless of how you feel.

Blessings,

David

David, glad you have now joined in instead of lurking.  Sharing and
supporting is what this group is about and you are welcomed warmly.

Prayers on the way.

It is so hard to get out of those houses when the time is right.  And so
much harder later on.  Praying that they can get some help.

Thanks everyone for your prayers. Little update - talked with Nancy and
he was up today, shaky but using a walker. He was able to put together
several sentences but that was all. I gather that it is good news that
he is making some progress. Nancy's children were there with her [thank
heavens]. I was able to tell her to get the social worker at the
hospital to get them all signed on for letting them get medical updates
from the doctors for when they return to their own lives. Mind is blank
on what that federal law that restricts info is called but there is a
way around it if you know to even try. Learned to handle that from
someone here on ASA who was trying to manage a parents care from a
different state and no one would talk with her because of the federal
law. Now that is a nightmare that I remembered and was able to share
with my aunt.
I will update as I know more.

Prayers on the way Duckie for all involved.

Also saw you posting about moving in. How do you like our nice sunny weather
we have been having. LOL

I saw the other post about this too. I hope things  improve if they can and
that all goes well.
