How did you live through this? We unpack and unpack and the boxes are
multiplying while we sleep. John just came down with a cold.
We have rearranged the kitchen three times and hopefully this is the
last time. The cabinets are homemade and are oddly shaped and sized. If
they had pull out drawers it wouldn't matter but narrow and deep make
it difficult to put anything away behind something.
Cats are adjusting and Paku especially loves the carpeted stairs to
John's office. He has never had carpeted stairs. He has found he can
roll down them grabbing each stair as he goes and this amuses him for
some reason.

glad the kitties are adjusting. it's easy for them. they don't have to
unpack and rearrange furniture.
i think deetee sailed through her move. on the other hand, john and i
still have two of the three bays of our garage full of boxes. we need
bookshelves before we can unpack all the books. maybe by summer. :-(
and still nothing on the walls because we want to use john's
photography and he's too busy getting his business up and running and
dealing with the crohns flare from hell.
so, all that is to say i empathize! what's your situation? are you
renting for a year and then buy something?

Yep - renting for at least a year and with all this unpacking I am
thinking two now. It does give us a roof over our head in case we find
a true fixer-upper and it needs work.
Go to Home Depot and I think the name was MillsPride. They have to be
put together but we got really good at it after the first two. These
are bookshelves I am talking about. Or there is the kind the container
store sells which pull out of the box - pull open the side supports and
tahdah the shelves drop into place. Nothing easier than that. I think
they had free shipping over a certain amount.
We have way tooooo much stuff that needs to find a home. We only have
one extra large bay full of boxes.

Welcome to wet west coast! You have to love this rain, rain, rain and
of course the occasional mud slides. Hope you are near Jen and Jeff.
Well maybe the real estate market will cool a bit in CA, that would be

Same here. I really don't see how the market can't be too hot not to cool
down.
Makes me a bit uneasy to realize I can't afford to live in my neighborhood.
We've been here thirty five years, and the newer neighbors are definitely
better off money wise than the older ones.

Something tells me if Paku is happy, so is everyone else. At least when
they watch him play.
Kitchens. Yech. Our remodeled one is great. Or it would be if we were
younger and more adaptable. As it is, Charlie never puts anything away the
same place twice. So I can never find anything.

Don't believe Diane, Duckie! It has not been a breeze. We still have a
multitude of boxes in our garage that we're just ignoring until Spring. We
got sooooooo tired of unpacking and trying to squeeze in more stuff. So
we're gonna wait until the weather's warmer and just sit in the garage and
unpack. I see a major yard sale in our future.
Glad you're where you want to be.
Hugs, DeeTee

Well, waiting till spring might be a plan but not sure how I am going
to tell when that is here. In boston it would be when the snow began to
melt and the first flowers poked their little heads up. Here flowers
are blooming now. There is a fushia plant on the side that is at least
10 feet tall. I had only seen those in pots for hanging. Never anything
that lasted year to year.
I'm spending tomorrow on my office. It is scary. lol

Duckie,
wishing you the best with the unpacking. Hope John doesn't have the flu like
Jim and I ended up with. Bad news, it packs a whallop. Glad the cats are
adjusting. Had to laugh about Paku being amused with the stairs.
Diane,
I hope you get unpacked ok this summer. I hope Johns business does well and
that his crohns is doing better. Thinking of you alot.
Dee Tee I hope you get unpacked this spring. I want to be there for the
yardsale. ;-) I love yardsales.
