He is definitely a keeper and spent some quality time with me and even
laughed at my jokes. hehehe I think I was interesting to him as I am
on Arava 20 mg; and Remicade; AND the new one - Rituxan. And my former
RD, Dr. Delleripa, had sent him four different letters with info on and
about me. ;)
I also have a new internist who is also young and energetic and
impressed with my printed medicine list. Said he wished his other
patients were that organized. I told him it should not be assumed I was
organized but really absent-minded. :) He went to Tufts medical and
did his surgery rotation at Lahey where I spent my last 25 or so
medical years.
What I don't have yet is my insurance card and had to pay out of pocket
for this months medications. Including the Arava which was over $560,
the bill was $1580+ The insurance company has promised that we should
have the card numbers at least by Monday. Of course they promised them
to us for Thursday and then Friday..... Since copay was going up by a
great deal, we wanted them filled in 2005.

duckie,
It is good to hear from you. I hope the unpacking soon progresses to a
conclusion for you. I am on Rituxan as a result of my Lymphoma and
will be getting infusions for four weeks in April and again for four
weeks in October. What type of schedule do you have for your infusions?
As I remember you were getting Rituxan for your RA not for Cancer.

Well -- I will try posting again. The first message seems to have
disappeared into nowhere....
I had my first done once a week for four week last May. My former RD
said it is usually given once a year but since mine took 2 months to
kick in, he thought it would be wise to do it again in say February.
My WBC has been slightly low since the end of the orginal doses.
Guessing that would finally begin to rise about the time I needed it
again but what do I know.
Going to hit post again - but first doing a copy so I don't have to
retype. This google is a pain. I really must unpack my mac
How are you doing Don?

Duckie,
My lymphoma is in remission I am experiencing some breathing problems
and shortness of breath which I a working on medication wise and have an
appointment with the Pulmonary department on the 18th. I have now
discontinued all pain meds that have a side effect which affects
breathing as well as doxepine. My current pain killer is extra strength
500 mg Tylenol. Currently getting epidural steroid injections for my
painful shoulder and neck and the stenosis in my back.

Will your insurance pay for Rituxan and Remicade? Which insurance
company did you go with? Hopefully not Pacific-no-care.

Congrats on starting out with a keeper! Sure sign that this move really was
meant to be ;)

Yowza! That Arava keeps going up. It was about $250/month when we left
Boston 2.5 years ago - went up to $360/month that fall and apparently has
been climbing ever since. Rather suspicious if you ask me....... I'm glad
to be off it AND to have Rx insurance again!
It's funny how many folks think the insurance means we pay nothing for my
meds. They'll complain to me about how their medication(s) cost them
$60/month! Well, now that we get most of my meds mail order we have the
monthly co-pay average down to $160. What a joy, as we used to pay more than
that for the couple of meds I couldn't get through samples.
Will the insurance company be reimbursing you for the additional
out-of-pocket expenses?
