Hi Alison,,,, lets let your RD decide if you need to alter your medicine
schedule.

Alison, I recently had a broken ankle, which I wrote about ad nauseum
here (that needing to vent thang). But, I never stopped my meds, and it
wasn't even an issue with my RD. He was more concerned about the
possibility that the break was because of osteoporosis. I do have very
borderline osteopenia/porosis, and I'm trying to at the very least,
prevent it from advancing.
But, as Harv said, of course it would be worth a call to your RD. But,
I don't think having a broken toe is reason alone to stop your DMARDS.
BTW, I take Enbrel and MTX, so I'm right there with you.
I broke my toe a few years ago while carrying laundry up some stairs.
Yeah, I fell up the stairs, goddammitt. It was a nasty avulsion
fracture, but my orthopod didn't think it was worth fixing as it was
only my toe. If it was a finger, and I needed it for dexterity, that
would have been a different story. Fixing it required surgery, so I was
more than willing to just let it go unfixed. I really, really hate
surgery, and avoiding it where possible is my MO. <g>
Hope your toe heals up quickly, and you don't have to stop the meds. I
agree that it's not really necessary to get it xrayed? Likely, there is
nothing they can do for it anyway. It just takes time. If it becomes
problematic, which isn't likely, then you can deal with that.
Good luck.
