Maybe an x ray by an orthopedic surgeon might just give a clue as to
what may be happening before you go to the expense of the Scans and MRI's of
your hip. You may be losing cartilage in your hip and it would give
you pain similar to what you describe. In my last hip x rays in 2000 I
had 10% erosion of cartilage and I am having it checked again this next
month since the pain level has increased steadily since the last ones.

Which hip bone are you referring to? The iliac crest? The proximal
femur? The sacro-iliac joint?

I know that feeling :-(

It's hard to say, considering 'not lined up right' could mean a variety
of things.

Some people can get repeated lower level infections in the appendix, but
there should be some abnormality seen on ultrasound or in the bloodwork
if this were the case.

Is the pain in the front at all, or only in the back of the pelvis?

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

I believe it's the iliac crest, it's the base of spine and wraps around
the side. Feels like a toothache kind of pain that starts and gets
really bad over time and then just as quickly subsides.
The pain does radiate to the front but mainly stays in the hip bone in
the back on on my side. I do however feel like I am uncomfortable in
the front at times almost menstrual when I'm done already.

The pain you're describing does not sound like a tendon
injury/inflamation, so my guess would be either something internal
(which you're already working on getting checked out) or what I think
you said previously: perhaps it's referred pain from the cervical and
thoracic damage?

Karen, first of all, if you aren't doing it already, a small pillow between
your knees all night long will take some pressure off the lower back and
hips. I also get massage therapy and chiropractic treatments. Both seem to
help, but unfortunately don't take the pain away entirely. Hope you won't
have to spend a hunk of money for tests and can get relief through massage
therapy, pain medication, and a heating pad is nice too. Nanny
