Has anyone ever had a reaction to a drug called "myopathy"? I hope I
spelled it right. It's muscle aches and weakness.  Very severe.  I
can't remember hurting this bad except in the early days of
uncontrolled RA and this is definately more muscular in orgin. The drug
is called daptomycin and it's listed as a side effect. In fact it
suggests certain blood tests to monitor it. The ID doc pulled the blood
yesterday to test for it but he didn't call back today and GP wants me
to continue with it.  I could eat all my pain pills and I think I would
still hurt!  Not that I would!  LOL  Just wondering if anyone has any
unfortunate experience with this.  Thanks --Diane W

As far as I know, "myopathy" is a general term for weakness. There are
many types of myopathy and many complications and treatments.

Here are some sites I use for getting medical information that I can
understand:

http://health.discovery.com/

I hope that these hope, and I hope that you feel better soon...

That's a possible reaction to the statin meds for cholesterol also and my
sister had that when she tried Zocor.  Not as severe as your reaction, but
she didn't have the underlying chronic issues complicating things that you
do.  Do mention it to your docs, maybe they can do something to help you feel
less awful.  You have really been through the mill of late.  I surely hope
and pray that this silly roller-coaster ride ends for you soon.

Nann - Iwas just saying today that this is how I felt on zocor only worse
and faster.  Interesting.

Diane,
Are you sure it isn't neuropathy?  In fact, I just googled it and it
is related to neuropathy.  I have to take Neurontin to control it in
my feet and lower legs.
