Has anyone tried these? It's pretty expensive, but.... I sent off for the
free sample and DVD and I'm thinking about trying one. Just thought if some
of you had already tried one, you could help me make the decision or steer
me away.
Thanks in advance,

Haven't tried it. But I seem to remember that they don't last very long for
as much as they cost. Hope that isn't true.

DeeTee,
We love how ours feels. It really cushions well. It was money well spent. It
smelled awful for the first week or so, but that went away. It also adds
height. So you need deep pocket fitted sheets in order for it to fit ok.
We do not like how if shifts, however. Every few days, we need to reposition
it because it slides a tiny amount every time you get in and out, or shift
up or down. Small price for the relief fro the hip and shoulder pain from
pressure.

Thank you. That's exactly the kind of info I need to make an informed

Oh wait. We bought a thinner Temperpedic mattress topper, not a mattress. SO
all my comments apply to those, not the ticker mattress. Sorry.

Dee Dee,
We love ours. It is probably the best matress we have slept on and we have
tried them all.

My husband recently bought a latex foam matress which has some
similarities to the tempurpedic but the salesman pointed out some
important (to my hubby) differences. One, the tempurpedic tends to
cause you to be hot when you sleep. Hubby likes it cool when he
sleeps. It never has to be turned. The person sleeping next to you
doesn't feel it when you move (this is the same in both I think) Its
supposed to be anti-microbial so good if you have allergies. It
conforms to you body like the temp.
The name of the bed he bought is called Restonic.
http://www.restonic.com/
If you want to compare them to tempurpedic they have a page that you
can put your zipcode into and find a store in your area.
This has been the only bed that I can lay on without pain since I had
my spine fractures. It is oh so comfortable! Usually my back goes into
spasms when I lay flat in minutes but when I tried it out in the store
Wayne and I were very surprised to find that after about 5 minutes I
was still ok. It's like sleeping on a cloud only with perfect support.
He also got the adjustable bed with it but I'm ok still with the flat.
Try it --- I think you'll like it. And this is coming from a confirmed

I have a visco elastic mattress topper. For a king size it was a little
over 200$. I've had mine for over 5 yrs and it's still just as good as day
one.
Costco has had a 3" topper for under 200$.. think the name is biopedic.
With Costco, you can use it and then take it back if you wish.
I love mine.... my shoulders and hips quit hurting after putting the topper
on.
I have a regular mattress, then a baffled featherbed and on top of that, the
visco elastic topper.

More and more bedding stores are carrying Tempurpedic or similar type
mattresses now so you might try popping in to local stores and try lying down
on one. Around here, most of the stores that carry them are advertising that
fact heavily in the paper, etc. I tried one out last spring when we bought
our spare bed and didn't like the feel of it, but that's just a personal
thing.
BTW, the bit in Diane's post about not feeling your partner moving - that's
true of most foam mattresses, assuming you have a stable bedframe. But I've
found it hard to find traditional foam mattresses cause memory foam is all
the rage right now. (I grew up on foam mattresses and dislike innerspring
mattresses greatly.) We now sleep on a foam and cotton futon on a platform
frame and we both love it - no movement at all when your partner wriggles
around. But we bought the cheaper one futon as money was tight and I fear it
won't last as long as the old mattress did. Frankly, I hope that next we
can invest in a ComfortAire ;)

I have a sealy memory foam mattress. I am not sure how it compares to
the tempurpedic. I find that it is comfortable, though at times it can
seem too firm. Because it does not have the same give as a boxspring
mattress, if can be difficult to turn over . To turn over, I grasp the
rails of my headboard.
This bed is very cozy. I also bought a mattress cover that is
supposed to keep things cooler since with this mattress there is
direct contact with all parts of the body.
A colleague has one, and reports that her husband's snoring has
decreased as a result of the new mattress.
Would I buy one again?? I would like to reserve judgement until after
trying select comfort and some other types.
I am now used to this mattress and find a significant difference when
I switch to a spring type for a night or two.
