My RD said the other day when I saw him that they finally have approved
this drug, but that they don't expect it to be available until summer
time as they have to build the factory and get going on the
manufacturing of this new med.

Anyone else heard anything on this at all?

Just curious!

donna, i'm really looking forward to how this drug works out. (bad
sentence). i'm almost at the max dose of remicade and still not doing
all that well. i'm hoping for options.

we haven't heard from KJ in a long time. wasn't she taking this?

I really want to try something new.  Enbrel just isn't working for me
anymore. There is no more denying it.  I have two swollen ankles, bursitis
that won't go away in my left elbow and a jaw joint that is making chewing
very difficult.  I just don't get it.

You might ask KJ I believe she has been on it for a while.  She has
not checked in for quite a while.  Perhaps you might check Rheumorweb
and see how she is doing.  -- MZ

I just snooped around on Rheumorweb and sure enough she posted an
update.

DeWitt,
I am with you...the Enbrel has never stopped my disease, only quiets it
down a bit.

At the beginning it was a wonderful!  Three weeks after I started it I
was down on the floor plying with legs under the Christmas tree with my
then young son.  I had about three good years on it. I think perhaps
the waning might be from my having to start and stop it so much due to
infections. Then this year I was off of it for almost 5 months due to
severe infections.  Maybe -  but that's just my theory.  I've also
wondered if it's formula has been changed any and that's why it is
having less of an effect. There seemed to be a big drop for me when
they changed to the new once a week formula.  I don't use that one. I
still mix and inject twice a week. But it's like I'm not even taking it
anymore.

It is time to reorder it and I don't want to get three months worth
this time. Last night I threw out three boxes that had lingered on my
refrigerator shelf till they were out of date -- 5/2003!  LOL  They
were from another infection time as well as a shipment that I got that
was from a mailaway pharmacy and not properly cooled.  So when the
replacement shipment came in I just left them there. Man how time
flies!  I couldn't believe when I saw the date!  The box I'm using
right now is for 12/2005.  I wonder if Enbrel is so fragile that its
just not working? Maybe I should order one more month and see what
happens with a fresh box. Anyone have any experience with Enbrel and
expiration dates?  Diane W
