I had to. I just couldn't help myself. And, every time I think of
photography and new cameras, I remember Paul Rad and his influence on my
first digitgal camera purchase. Paul, if you're up in some heavenly
place looking down on me, I hope you're smiling and recognize my eternal
gratitude to you.
My new camera is a Panasonic Lumix FZ30. It's a honkin' great digital
camera, which is reviewed here
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicfz30/ I don't have it yet, but
expect that it will be delivered tomorrow or tuesday, as I mail ordered
it from amazon.com.
So, get ready, and expect a new wave of image postings. Color me
impatient and chomping at the bit. :-)

I'm familiar with that one...and jealous! We're still relying on our old
Canon A40 :-)

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

Looks very nice.
I am always envious of the cheaper items like this in the US.
I see that the US street prices are $590 (=UKPounds 343.00) and the UK
price is UKP 480.00 (=$825.00).
They call it rip off Britain and it is as far as this sort of thing is
concerned.
Have fun and take some nice pics.

Australia gets gouged on computer related devices and components a lot
of the time, too. Especially with Australian branches of multinationals
only offering local warranty if you buy through their Australian branch,
which often charges 100% more than their prices elsewhere! :-( *pout*
Cheers,
Ari

I have a fairly low end Lumix. Right before I was leaving on vacation a
few years ago, my old Olympus digital failed. I was already to buy
another one, as I liked it so much, but didn't have time for mail order.
So I went to Circuit City instead. Since I was there, I tried out all
the cameras in the same price range, and liked the Lumix *much* better.
The menu controls are far more intuitive. With the Olympus, I had to
check the manual every time I wanted to switch white balance (sun to
shade to incandescent). No more. I *love* my Lumix.

Di, as much as you use a camera and enjoy it, you deserve this one. Have
fun!

Super!!!! Good luck with it :)
I'm saving for a Nikon D50. Since I have lenses for my Nikon N80 (film
camera), they will also fit the digital D50. And it's going to be so
nice to not to have to pay film processing costs!

Looks like a camera you are definately going to enjoy using. I finally
broke down and purchased a good digital last summer that I'm still
learning how to use. I share it with my son who learned during photo in
high school how to use it but doesn't have time to teach Mom! LOL I
have a Canon Rebel XT EOS. It came with free classes I'm hoping to get
well enough to take soon. Enjoy! DianeW
