Is it possible to get them in your fingers?  I have a lot of pain in my
left hand index finger just above/between the DIP and PIP joints.  It
looks like a tiny bruise, but it's a very defined, blue vein thing.
I've had it for a few weeks now, and it hurts like a sunnovabitch, going
from annoying to outright preoccupying at times.  I have an appt with my
RD next tuesday, Dec 12th, but was wondering if any of you have similar
experiences or some grain of wisdom to share with me.  this is getting
really old.

Also, this is the same hand that I have the unrelenting DeQuervain's
tenosynovitis, that rotten pain in my wrist under my thumb.  I've been
doing PT for a few weeks, but nothing, nothing is getting better.  I'm
reduced to wearing a wrist splint to prevent the aggravating motion of
.......errrr.......... wrist motion.  This is also getting old.

OK, this wasn't just a request.  It soared off into a whine.  that kinda
happens around here from time to time.  <sigh>

Does feel surprisingly good to tell someones that understand though doesn't
it?  Sometimes PT does more harm than good.  Hope this isn't one of those
times.

di, my doc told me once that i had phlebitis in my finger. i am prone
to getting superficial phlebitis in my arms. (do ok on low dose
warfarin, knock on wood). i can't even recall now what the bump looked
like, but it very painful and lasted several weeks and when i showed it
to the doc, he said it was phlebitis. it went away on its own.

Sorry it took so long to respond to this, but I'm glad you posted your
experiences.  My computer went a bit whacko (not fully resolved yet),
and this past week was a work marathon.

Anyway, I'm glad to know that your phlebitis just went away on its own.
What's amazing is that I have an appt with my RD on monday, wherein I
was going to ask him about my painful bloodclot looking thing.  But,
after having been there for weeks and weeks, guess what?  Yup, I think
it's gone.  I'm gonna ask him about it anyway, but I suspect that he's
gonna look at me like I have two heads and am acting like a
hypochondriac, given all the "real" and discernable issues I deal with.
But, I don't care.  It's gone.  If it comes back, I'll deal with it.

thanks, Diane.  Your post was really encouraging.  :-)

Didn't you know that the surest way to cure a current problem is to make a
doctor's appointment?  It scares whatever is bothering us at the moment.

A follow-up to my original post:

I saw my RD this past monday.  I asked him about my finger "clot", to
which he showed me his. His was a lot bigger than mine. Amazing.
"Yeah," he said, "hurts at times, but not a big deal."  He offered me no
solutions, or relievers, or anything.  Obviously, I wasn't getting any
sympathy from him.

On thursday, I had an appt with my GP.  That appt was to get a flu shot
and a refill for Maxalt.  I showed her my finger.  She said that it sure
does look like some kind of occlusion, but not to worry, as it is
superficial and not likely to thrombose.  She suggested that I use moist
heat to allieviate the symptoms, particularly given that my Raynaud's is
so severe.  So, the upshot - I'm not worried, even though it hurts like
a sunnovobitch, and yeah, DianeC, you were right.  Sure is a lousy
annoyance, isn't it?
