Dear Folks,

At this time of Thanksgiving, I'm thinking about this year and what I
have to be thankful for and here are mine. I entered 2005 with cancer
over my head.  (I don't believe that I was a member here at that time.)
I had surgery in January and was cleared.  For that I'm thankful!
Then in August, I began the trip down the lane which lead to surgery on
my ankle.  Now my ankle feels so much better like 30 years removed!
For that I'm thankful!  This year saw my eldest off to college!  And he
is doing well!  And for that I'm thankful! My baby is turning sixteen
shortly (We celebrate it Saturday!  Yikes!  Her birthday is really
12-22)  And she is so charming and well turned out.  And for that I'm
thankful.  My middle child is learning how to be patient with himself!
And for that I'm thankful.  My husband is hardworking and I love him
terribly!  And for him I'm thankful.

Here's wishing all you a happy and thankful day!

Hi Vickie,,,,,   I am so glad you post this.   It is the best medicine in
the world for pushing away the blues or depression.   I count my blessings.
I think of all the good things in my life,,, the things that have turned out
well,,,,, the many things in my life that I may have no control over or if I
do have some control,,,, How could I of done better or different to get a
better result.   I can do that now without a feeling of guilt for things I
can not control or even if I do have some control,,,,, I did the best I
could.
I am going to brag on you now.....  Many of the things you list are
because you have done much of it well and you have a right to feel proud of
the results and thankful on this day.

ah, Vickie, you truly have some wonderful things to be thankful for.  And as
Harv said, some of those are things you had a major part in!

Today, we are first and foremost thankful that we have a roof over our heads,
a working heating system and a big turkey in the oven.  This is not the
climate to be homeless in - it's been snowing for 24 hours so far with more
expected.

Three weeks from Saturday my husband will be ordained as an Episcopal priest.
Those of you who have been around a while know that this was not an easy
road and there were times where it looked like it really wouldn't happen.
But all has worked out well, he will be a priest, he's been doing 90% of the
work for 15 months now and absolutely loves doing it.  We are so thankful and
still a bit amazed by it all.

Our 15th wedding anniversary was one week ago today.  I am thankful just
about every day for having Mike in my life.  I could wax peotic and get all
mushy and such, but I'll just say I never dreamed just a good a really good
marriage can be!

And I'm on the schedule to have my first thumb "cleaning out" done on Jan 13.
The waiting is so hard - I've been ready to do it "tomorrow" for a month
now! - but I am so grateful that some help is coming down the road for my
thumbs after 5.5 years of torment.  Which brings me to the health insurance
we have now after years of borderline insurance.  How wonderful to have
decent Rx coverage and be able to look at having my thumbs worked on without
worrying about our costs!

And this year we get to go home for a week at Christmas, leaving on the 26th.
We are so thankful that we will be able to spend part of the holiday with
our family again after missing 2 years.  We are so thankful for our wonderful
family that has supported us in so many ways the past 5 years we've been on
this path.  We love the fact that they are flexible about Christmas and just
plan to do the big Christmas Day stuff a couple of days late so we can all do
it together.

Those are the biggest ones that come to mind.  There is so much else though
that is so good.............
