Rosemarie Shiver - 07 Nov 2005 20:40 GMT ....or does anyone else have a prescription company that won't fill as written? I swear there's gotta be someone there in charge of my mail in's who thinks job security means "fax the MD and get it changed."
My RD's not gonna be happy when he finds out I couldn't ramp up my MTX like he wanted 'cuz someone there OK'd the fax that reduced the # of pills. I left a phone message but since I don't fax, they don't have time for me. <arrgh>
And I stopped by my PCP to discuss that 2 600mg. Neurontin are not the same as 4 300mg. Neurontin. How I'm 'sposed to dose 3 times a day (300, 300, 600) on 2 600's?
It's significantly more cost effective to get 'em mailed @ 3 months at a time....IF I can get the right amount mailed. Anyone else having to have hissy fits to get what's writ?

Then you can cuss them out in fax's all you want. ^_^

Rosemarie Shiver - 08 Nov 2005 00:39 GMT Aha!
You gave me a good idea. E-mailed what I wanted to fax to my ex in N. Dakota, who put on a cover sheet and faxed it to my RD's office back here in FL. Circuitous, but effective.<g>
Can ya even use Win-Fax with DSL? :-)
Thanx muchly, Alex!

> Can ya even use Win-Fax with DSL? :-) Faxing from a PC uses a regular modem & a regular phone line. Most PC's come with a modem & fax software & scanners usually include fax software also. Since my hands don't work most of the time I use windows dialer.exe to dial any phone calls I need to make.

[quoted text clipped - 32 lines] > * http://www.goldenmist.org > **************************************************** Nann Bell - 08 Nov 2005 03:43 GMT I'm not having hissy fits about that, but my sister had the horror story from hell about dealing with Merck Medco's mail order last winter. I forget all the details, but it was a maze of screwups, mostly by them. It's was kinda like your complaints, but in triplicate and with her ultimately being off her anti-depressant for almost 2 weeks thanks to their screw-ups. Luckily her depressive problems are mild, but she was feeling it!
I just about flipped when I got my first mail-order and found they charged me 2 months co-pay for 3 months of Premarin, whereas the local pharmacy gives me the 90 day supply for one month's co-pay. BCBS says it has to do with it being on some FDA maintenance med list so the pharmacy can do that. Couldn't tell me WHY Medco couldn't do it too! Oh well, it gives me a good reason to keep one more script local and give our little pharmacy my business. I'd rather keep everything local, but going mail order saves us about $700/yr. We could save another $160/yr, but I insist on keeping my Enbrel local so I know it'll be handled correctly.

It's always a bit risky thru the mail. No wonder my nerves are SHOT. How 'bout yours, Nann?

Norman - 08 Nov 2005 03:53 GMT Try this site if you want to send a message to (almost) any doctor in the US.
http://www.mdhub.com/
The site is run by a medical publishing company, and they have links to most doctors. You enter the phone number in the appropriate box (or the doctor's name and state) and click on the icon for whichever type of message you want to send. You fill in the form and when you click "submit" they fax it to your doctor. It's not for emergency communication, but, depending on the doctor, they have forms for change in appointment, prescription refills, referrals, etc.
I use it all the time for med refills, and sometimes when I want to send a note to my doc.
Hope this helps... Norman
Rosemarie Shiver - 09 Nov 2005 22:50 GMT Thanks, Norman!
Works for my PCP's office...but I guess my RD is hospital affliated. Didn't know that, but now I do! <g>

Your story and others like it are why I refuse to use the mail in option on our RX coverage.
Charlie gives me a hard time about it once in a while, but I'm just not up for the hassle I know it would cause. I have enough trouble with pharmacies where I can go and yell at them in person. (Honest its usually plaintive begging. It works better)
Last time I went to pick up an RX the clerk at the drive through recognized me and went to get my refills before I even asked. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Rosemarie Shiver - 09 Nov 2005 22:51 GMT Thanks for the LOL! I used to have CVS on speed dial. I wonder if they'll even miss me. Nah...I don't think so. :-)

Before I switched 2/3 of my meds to mail order, I called them so often the pharmacist now knows my voice! Of course, he only has a couple of us on Enbrel so that narrows the options when I call to say I need to get my Enbrel ordered :)
When Mike calls in his refills, he asks - again - what number they are on our speed dial.

Nah...I don't think so. :-) [quoted text clipped - 8 lines] >When Mike calls in his refills, he asks - again - what number they are on our >speed dial. I guess I am very lucky, as we have a local pharmacy that delivers and calls the doctor when the refills run out! No charge and since I have to pay the same copay whether I use the mail or local, I'll stay with him. They know our voices, too, mine and my mom's. They do charge three months copay when I get three months, but that is the insurance (Tricare for Life), so it doesn't make a difference. There is one that my mom is supposed to deliver personally, but she calls the doctor and they take it across the street to the branch of the pharmacy there and then they take it to our branch and it gets delivered. How about those apples?
Loujean Retired (partially!) and love it. Throw that FISH out and put in an S to email me.
Rosemarie Shiver - 10 Nov 2005 20:27 GMT Them's some good apples you've got there, Loujean! Haven't heard that phrase in a good long while. <grin>
