Enough meds to keep me pain-free also keep me doped. Now even using
transderm narcs. Ortho Surgeon re-xrayed me and says that arthritic
changes are now very severe and a hip transplant is needed 'without a
doubt'. Also says as I get around more after the surgery I might feel
more hurt from the other joints and end up with more surgery. We'll wait
and see on that. Gonna go for this one anyway as I've fought this long
and hard and the wear and tear has worn me down and torn me up. ;-) Lots
of info from you good people as I lurked here so just posting FYI and to
vent a little concern and confirm my intent. Ha.
Go for it. It's worthwhile But it does take work afterwards. I've had both
hips and both knees done and they work great.
Sincerely
Lorrie F

Glad to hear it, Lorrie. That's sorta what they're forcasting for my
future is 'eventually' all 4 joints.

Hey Bud, a friend of the DH and me also had both hips and knees done and has
been kicking herself for not doing it sooner! She loves to dive and as long
as she could do that she put it off. Once getting into a dive suit became
too hard, she gave in and had the joint replacements. Now, when they travel
to exotic locales to dive, she can actually enjoy wandering around on land
for a day or two as well! Go for it, everyone I know who has done says it's
ultimately worth it.
and it's faster than a whole body transplant ;-)
and, no doubt, more effective than my frequent threats to my thumbs to take
the meat cleaver to them (thumbs don't scare easily, I'm discovering)

That'd be a hip replacement, not a transplant. It's a better option,
trust me :-)

What's wrong with the other joints?

I was scared before each of my hip replacements. They're the absolute
least of my worries now. I'm very happy with them.
Cheers,
Ari

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

Duh, well of course. Actually I was thinking of getting a total body
transplant. Avoid lots of trouble later. LOL!

Arthritic degeneration also says the Man.

Good to hear and hope I can follow the trend. ;-) Thanks.
Bud, you can get lots of hip replacement info on http://totallyhip.org. I
got a lot of help before I had my THR.
