Got an email from Kate a couple of days ago & finally got around to asking if
I could copy part of it to the group to let everyone know how she is.  not
surprisingly, having one wrist/arm all pinned and wired up is limiting, but
she seems to be hanging in there!

Simply the thing I am shall make me live --- William Shakespeare

from Kate:

had my surgeon's appmt/2nd post-op appmt on tuesday.  i'm still not allowed
to drive or do anything meaningful with my left hand.  crumbs.  starting to
get stir crazy.  but, i guess i understand the situation.

he wasn't happy with me weaning myself down on the percocet--told me it's
too soon and he'll do the weaning me off it when it's time.  i sure didn't
expect that--thought he'd be glad i was weaning myself off and toughing some
of it out.  he wasn't happy that i have two pieces of bone missing--i
thought he originally told me there was just one piece missing and that was
why he didn't do the bone graft.  there is a little extra movement in my
wrist, despite the fixator, because those pieces are missing.  said he hopes
to remove all the metal on the 6th of dec.  said, at that time he'll check
the stability of my wrist and decide if he needs to do more.  i thought he
told me there would be only one surgery, just before surgery :-(  i mean,
he's a surgeon, what else can i conclude?  he also reversed himself about
the breakage being from the kind of fall vs. my osteopenia.  now he says the
way all those bones shattered fits the pattern of low impact osteoporotic
breaks.  but the good news is maybe dec. 6th will be the end of this
restriction stuff (i'm guessing about that) when the metal is out.  boy, i
hope so.

boy, my right handis being worked to death, mostly why i haven't been
keeping up with my emails.  i should update asa, but it's a challenge just
trying to do what i have been doing.  wuss here.LOL  that hand will be happy
when its mate can pick up part of the load.

Thanks for the update Nann,

I have been wondering about her. Kate, I sure do hope you heal more quickly
so it will be a sooner time you can come back to us. We miss you when you
are not here. Hugs to you.
