Kelly Cobb - 05 Nov 2005 22:03 GMT Hi everybody, just a note to let you know that I'm having some computer problems and may not be able to access the group. It seems to be hardware, rather than software, so it's Brett's dept, not mine.
I'll have him take a look at it today or tomorrow, but it may be awhile before we resolve the problem.
I'll be thinking of all of you. Kelly C.

It won't even start to load, as in no picure on the screen. I'm a bit depressed about it, if only because it was such rotten timing. I was just going in to back up all my photos onto a CDRom, when this message came up on the screen about adjusting my frequency. I mentally said 'huh?' and then the screen started into this recurring message about checking the PC/monitor connections, etc.
Anyway, when I tried to reload it, all the computer would do is start tripping back and forth between the two CDRom drives, looking for something, but not getting to the point where it would load. My DH tried all sorts of rerouting of cables to bypass the CDRoms, etc, but no joy.
I really don't want to hear that this a Windows thing, Mike, please. I think it's a motherboard thing. We'll find out in a couple of days. Tomorrow we have to go to Portland to see the neuro. and try to keep Rach from having any more seizures.
Anyway, I'm on hubby's computer, and I hate not having all my own stuff. I also hate posting through Google, but at least I can see you guys.
Hugs, Kelly C.
Gwen Love - 07 Nov 2005 03:01 GMT Kelly, hope you get it repaired very soon. Please let us know about the appt with the neuro. Gwen

Squirrely - 08 Nov 2005 05:27 GMT Sorry to hear this Kelly. I was hoping it would be a simple fix. Let us know if you can about the neuro appt. Wishing you the best with the puter and with Rachel. Take care.

Kelly Cobb - 09 Nov 2005 05:01 GMT Thanks, guys. We're getting closer on the computer stuff. Narrowed down the problem to the motherboard. Brett got me a new one and is in the long, tedious process of installing drivers, etc. He had to go to bed before being able to get me back online, but at least my hard drive is functional and I haven't lost anything yet. It will need to be reformatted, but I'll try and get my photos, important stuff off first.
The neuro. appt. went well. We _love_ Rachel's Dr! We have narrowed down part of her seizure trigger as being a startle response. She gets surprised, chokes on water, gets randomly hurt, etc. and it triggers a seizure. We've been giving her Tranxene after seizures to keep them from clustering and noticed that when she's on it, the surprise response doesn't happen. She can get startled like anyone else and not have a seizure.
The neuro. has decided that it's a good thing, at least for now. He doesn't want to mess up her meds. too much while she's doing so well otherwise. School is great, she's loving band and basically having a wonderful school year. Her best yet. The Tranxene doesn't slow her down or make her sleepy, so we're going to keep using it daily. The next step is a PET scan next month to see if we can pinpoint an area of her brain that's damaged. Nothing showed on MRI 3 times, but the Dr. thinks that enough time has passed that something may show with the PET scan.
If something does show up, it may mean that Rach is a candidate for surgery. I can't think about the implications of that right now. It's too big for me to process in one chunk. I have to do this one step at a time. So please continue to keep this tough little broad in your hearts. She is really becoming an exceptional, artistic and nifty person.
I hope to be fully back with you all soon. I need my friends.:)

Duckie - 09 Nov 2005 23:17 GMT You are getting there. Wish Rach's problem had been as 'simple' as mine. I love her doctor too. :) Tell her hello for me and give Brett a pat on his tush. He'll know who it is from. rofl Duckie

good news on the neuro. It does sound like you all have a keeper there. Got my fingers and toes crossed that the Tranxene keeps Rach stable so she can focus on being her exceptional, artistic and nifty self.

Squirrely - 17 Nov 2005 07:17 GMT I am glad that Rachel is having a good school year. I hope she can really enjoy playing in the band.
I hope if she has the PET scan next month that it turns out well and that they can find out more ways to help her thru all this.
Always have all of your family in my thoughts and prayers.
