Hi,
My doc wants me to take Lyrica to see if it helps my pain more than
Oxycontin. I start it tonight, I am not sure how long it takes to
work. Everything I read about it does not indicate it is for mucsle
and joint pain. If it works he will reduce the oxycontin.
Please help me with info, is anyone here taking it?

Dawn, This is suppose to be a new drug that they found effective during
testing for Fibromyalgia. No that isn't what it was made for, but they are
going to prescribe it for it...Please let me know how it works for you.
I know that alot of us with FM have been waiting for it to come out

It's a drug ( Pregabalin) that is in the same family as Neurontin.
Neurontin has worked well on many of us...but not all. Lyrica is not as
strong and therefore has less of the side effects that Gabapentin
<Neurontin> does. Pregabalin has been in the pipeline for about 4 years...I
posted on AMF about the development of it that many years ago. It's WAY long
awaited, fertrue.

The only way to know if it'll work for you is to try it. The
drowsy/dizzies you may feel will diminish the longer you take it. The major
benefit that almost everyone has is better sleep. The restorative sleep I
get with Neurontin has helped me greatly.
I've got other severe arthritis conditions and with those getting strong
treatment, too, I'm doing better every day.
I'm wishing you and Cindy the same!
Hugs from Rosie
