MY RD says that is like carpal tunnel.  It's caused by the inlfammation
of the wrist (or elbow) joints pressing on the nerves to the fingers.
I get it all the time.

Ps but the worst was when all feeling would go away in a leg when going down
stairs.   That is scarey.

I agree with others - it sounds like carpal tunnel, which is very common with
wrist involvement in RA.  Been there myself, back in the days before carpal
tunnel was as common as it is in our ultra-computerized times.  BE sure to
let your doctor know.  There are a variety of treatments and therapies to
improve things.  I still recall how it really got my doctor's attention when
I mentioned my hands going numb at times.

I've had similar problems from time to time. If I sat in certain
positions, I would get a tingling in my arm, or, sometimes, in an area
on the front of my thigh. It was as if the area "fell asleep". As soon
as I changed my position it would clear up. My RD said that I had some
narrowing between some of my vertebra and the nerve exiting through
those areas would be pinched until I moved again. He started me on
stretching exercises and physical therapy (to stretch the neck), and, as
long as I do my exercises I don't seem to have that problem.

I get a tingling and sort of numbness in one hand where i have a pinched
nerve in my neck.  When i move certain ways, the numbness feels more
pronounced.
