Adelle, I think it was you who wrote about Alex whose face and legs were so
damaged.  Do you know how he is now?  I've been praying for him, along with
Jason Deal.

Thank you for asking, Gwen. Alex is 16 and was up on a roof with friends and
fell off.

Alex has been out of ICU for about a week now (he was there for almost three
weeks). He is being transferred to rehab next week. So the news is
encouraging.

Alex needed three surgeries to stabilize/repair the damage in his legs, and
an additional surgery for broken bones in his face.  He was kept sedated and
intubated for so long (and in a cervical collar) that some of the facial
fractures began to heal on their own, reducing the amount of surgery needed.
Fractures around an eye socket have compromised his vision, but we don't
know yet whether that's permanent. Luckily, the pediatric rehab facility is
across the street from Mass Eye and Ear, one of the best such facilities in
the world.

He has a long road ahead. For a while amputation of a foot was considered,
so you can imagine the amount of damage he needs to heal from. How well he
will be able to walk is an issue. Our community continues to pray for him.
He is a good and sweet kid who certainly now has a much harder road than he
deserves.

Thanks for the update Adelle, still will be praying for him. Such a struggle
to come back to be able to do what he could before if that.
I hope he has a great outcome.

Gwen am still praying for Jason also.

Jason keeps going from one infection to another; stopping his therapy.
We're still praying though for complete healing.

I can't remember if I answered this one or not before. But wanted you to
know that I have him in my prayers. I am hoping he will have a miracle
happen. Wishing the best of outcomes for Alex. Thanks again for updating us
on him.
