I saw an orthopedic doctor yesterday for my hips, he diagnosed bursitis in
both hips and the sit bones, so I had my first cortisone injection, it was a
little painful not much, the next day however my hip felt worse than I went
in. Anyway he said that I was his third patient who had been on enbrel a
couple of months and had gotten really severe bursitis and said that in
talking to the enbrel manufactures that bursitis is one of the side effects
of enbrel. Has anyone else heard of this or experienced this?
Just thought that was interesting, just wish the shot would work, said I had
to wait 2 weeks at least before they try it again,
thanks

Becky,
I am not on enbrel, but wanted to say ouch and I feel for you.
I keep having problems with bursitis and I know that is not a nice feeling.
I get bursitis problems from them giving a shot in the hip.
I think I also have bursitis problems in the shoulders. I was just reading
up about it the other night.
So my heart goes out to you and I hope something works for you. Sending
healing vibes and bursitis get out of town vibes. ;-)

Love and hugs to all
Good thoughts coming your way too.

I am on Enbrel as well-I do have problems with bursitis in my left
shoulder, but had them before I started on the Enbrel.
I did recently have a reaction to a cortisone shot in my left ankle. It
was fine right afterwards, but later that night, my ankle started
burning and swelling, and became so sensitive I couldn't stand to have
anything touch it, not even pillows. I could not put ANY weight
whatsoever on it.
However, the next day it was fine.
I hope that you get some relief soon,
Char
My RD says that sometimes a reaction like that happens, though it is
rare.
I'm sorry that your hip is worse than before-that just really sucks

Becky, when I was having injections for my hip bursitis I was always hurting
more the next day. However, by the second day after the shot I was much,
much better. Hope that will be your experience.

In December it will be two years that I've been on Enbrel and I have
not had a problem with bursitis. I did have bursitis before I started
the Enbrel however.
Good Luck.

Becky,
I don't know anything about the enbrel. You need to give the shots two
or three days to see if they will help. When I have a shot I always
get worse for a couple of days then things begin to settle down. I
hope yours does too.
