Well, I just got off the phone with our service person at the Social
Security Administration. I'm in the system and my application has been
accepted. Now I have to wait three to four months to see if I am approved
for disability. The service person didn't think there would be any problems
because of all of my physical conditions, but there are never any
guarantees. I sure hope they don't get ridiculous about this. It's a waiting
game now. It took me nearly a week of filling out forms. I would spend two
or three hours at a time then rest for several hours.
My DH's bad disk at L4-5 has really been giving him problems lately. It's
been so bad he has actually acquiesed to using my fold-up cane to help him
stand when he needs to. I convinced him not lift ANYTHING for several days.
He woke up this morning amazed that his back didn't hurt. So he has been
told in no uncertain terms by me that his lifting heavy boxes days are over.
I usually slide a box onto our hand truck and bring it inside to wherever we
need it. The only two things I'm not sure about are a bookcase and a cabinet
that still need to be brought in. I may ask for a volunteer from the younger
men to help when it's time to bring those in from the garage. Other than
that, we are slowly but surely getting the garage emptied of boxes. I want
it ready by winter to house both cars. I've always wanted a garage in the
winter and now I finally have one!
Our house is looking good - if I do say so myself. We have more pictures to
hang and a chest of drawers to build yet, but other than that, it's just
unpack two to three boxes each day and try not to hurt ourselves. LOL

Maybe not. I got my approval less than 2 months after I applied, which
was mid April. I then had a phone interview a couple of weeks later. And
then I received the questions about how my disability was affecting my
life a couple of weeks later. I filled that in, and received my approval
on June 13th. So hang in there :) I think a lot of it depends on how
fast your doctors send in the medical information, so keep on top of
them, and I'll say prayers for you :)

I've been here over two years and I still have stuff in boxes, LOL :)
And when I first moved in, I bought a bookcase which I only put together
a couple of months ago :) Take it easy, it will all get done :)

We've been here for a year, DeeTee and still have many pictures to hang.
We've just been so much busier than we expected to be. Once you get to that
point that it feels homey enough, your priorities just have this way of
shifting. You do want that garage clear for the cars though. We finally
have a single car garage up north where the minivan lives in the winter.
Clearing off the Corolla is no big deal, but having that garage is great for
the larger Caravan.
Aren't spouses funny at times? Mike developed plantar fasciitis this summer.
It's really taken some time to get it through to him that he will actually
have to do some things to help it get better, that it won't just go away on
its own. He's always been so healthy and his feet have always tolerated
anything, he just couldn't accept it. He finally bought some Birks this week
from a really knowledgeable fella with the same trouble. He gave Mike lots
of good advice that is already paying off.
A few strong guys from our churches here helped with the heavy lifting when
we moved up. It was great - all the heavier pieces of furniture were in the
right rooms from the beginning. We just had to reconnect some legs & such
and get them in place. And I was taking pred to get through it all, so it
worked out ok.
Got my fingers crossed that disability goes through without a hitch.
