Rosemarie Shiver - 04 Oct 2005 00:27 GMT Hiya, ASA,
Good RD visit 2day. I'm back on the MTX but without Pred. Yay! The Plaquenil didn't do anything at all for me. I'm also on Lodine. I didn't know you could take Prilosec twice a day but since Lodine's hard on my stomach I will be taking a Lodine paired with a Prilosec twice each day.
Finally something(s) I know can kick arse on this UTCD. He sez that I'm one step from Lupus and I gotta get this under control NOW; even tho' it's highly dubious that I could ever develop full blown Lupus. But the Lupus indicator is there at the 1:320 titer when Lupus is 1:640...speckled. It's been going on too long and is damaging my knees especially, plus neck and spine. So yup...MTX each Saturday and my folic acid and Grape Seed Extract and I'll send Normie out for Milk Thistle if I should need some. Finally....I've been really miserable these past coupla months. I get to increase my MTX little by little over the next few months as I feel is needed. Wow...trusted to handle it. Great, right? :-)))) Being an oldie here has made it so I really can handle it...thanks to youse all. <g>
Doc sez I also have arthritic pain probs. due to Human Parvo B-19 and we discussed my former Epstein-Barr exposure. Along with the DJD and DDD that makes 3 pain indices, sez he, so I'm believed on that. He has asked me about my FM and feels I can keep that under good control. I think I'll ask for a Neurontin increase from my PCP based on these findings of pain indices.

Lupus is something to be feared,,,, so do what your doctor tells you to stay ahead of that. Your humor when facing this just floors me... so tuff,,, my hat is off to you. Harv
> Hiya, ASA, > [quoted text clipped - 27 lines] > > Hugs from Rosie Charrlygrl1 - 04 Oct 2005 18:18 GMT Oh my gosh, Rosie, you sure do have a lot going on! It's amazing that you still have such a good sense of humor. I have ankylosing spondylitis (and fibro), and no one believed me about anything for quite a while, until finally the MRIs confirmed what I was saying. Plaquenil also did not work for me...neither did about 10 different NSAIDS. I was on MTX before I was diagnosed, but not for long enough and not at a high enough dosage. Since then I have changed RDs twice, and my new one has me back on it...and has slowly raised me up to 8 pills per week (20mgs). After 2.5 years, I can finally say that two weeks ago, the day after I took the MTX, I felt BETTER! I was so relieved that I cried. Even though I am on Enbrel, prednisone, azulfidine and what feels like a million others...I haven't felt this well in a long, long time. I can say that around Tuesday (I take the MTX on Weds night), it seems like it starts to wear off. I hope that the MTX does the same for you...please just remember to be patient (which is often very hard), but worth the wait if it works, ((Gimpy Rosie)) Charlene
Rosemarie Shiver - 05 Oct 2005 00:53 GMT Yeah, Char2,
A friend here accused me ( teasingly) of being an alphabet hog with all the letters I've got goin' on. They keep moving the return line on me!!! I was on MTX and Pred. 5 years ago...yeah I've been here a long time <g> and the Pred. made me really sick but the MTX was good. It's good again and I'm lucky. When they took away the Bextra I got worse and worse and then the hurricanes here and I ain't been the Rosiest of Rosies for over a year now. But I've got the MTX back and yup.....you describe it so very well exactly how it feels. I'll be writing more on AMF too now that I've got a doc and a treatment plan for whut I actually have. I'm glad your AS is kept under some semblance of control with MTX. People write here that it's scary....but MTX always has been berry berry good to me. But like Loujean Pred. is so nasty. :-( Mileage varied, as they say.

Rosie,
Sweetie, I hope the MTX does the trick for you. I know you have been in so much pain and suffering for a long time now. You take care and I hope this works quickly for you. Know that I am always thinking of you.
Oh by the way when we talked the other day. I am only on pred for 4 days at a time. It is when the adrenals go into crisis from the start of addisons. So I just finished my four day course yesterday. I hope that did the trick this one hit me hard this time. Also lungs acting up too. So I hope I didn't stop the pred too soon. ;-)
It was so good to hear your voice. I know Denise appreciated the call too. ;-)
Signature Love and hugs to all Good thoughts coming your way too.

Yeah...I was hoping to get on MTX again and so he did. <g> Between U and johnie I worry about that Pred. but if ya gotta ya gotta. I really should call when yer off it, tho' :-)
I hope you're doing much better really soon too, m'dear!

As they say...if you can't be smart ya gotta be tuff. The prob. was the docs I used to have were rather more tuffer than I and less smart...to my detriment. Now that I got an RD who really knows about tests and viruses and isn't afraid of the big guns against Arthur and Loopy I'll be better from here out.
You tell so many so often that the really strong meds. are a must and it's easier to not be as tuff now that I've got the tuff stuff drugs again.

LOL I'm not on prednisone because I'm not ever supposed to take it. I have Cryptococcal Sinusitis in 1990 and they think it got ahold of me because I had been taking prednisone for poison ivy and sinus infections and my immune system was weak. So far, I've been fortunate in that I am taking Arthrotec 75 and it works quite well, with a little help from Ultraset when there is breakthrough pain or aching. I do find I tire more easily than I did before. I went back to work from retirement as a contractor to help them out until they could replace the guy who replaced me. I am a tooling design engineer and do love the work, but I just can't keep up with the work load and the traffic has become just horrible out where I work (used to be in the "country"). It is a machine gun factory! Needless to say, we have lots of work. I am realizing my limits - I turn 67 next week on the 13th (want to have some fun? turn 40 on Friday the 13th!!!). With the cartilage wearing out on my knees (had Hyalgan put in the left - works pretty well) and so on and so on, I think it's time to hang up the old slip stick (slide rule to the uninformed!) and enjoy retirement. So, I told them that November 30th was it. They would have to sink or swim from then on.
Loujean PS. Sorry to take whine on your topic, Rosie, it just came out!
>Hiya, ASA, > [quoted text clipped - 25 lines] > >Hugs from Rosie Rosemarie Shiver - 05 Oct 2005 00:41 GMT Heya. Loujean,
No prob.! Ain't mine, I don't own it. :-) Besides, I'm with ya at the chronic pain NG too so any thread I start please feel free to whine away. I really don't much at all so you can have all the slack. <g>
I'm with you that taking away my Bextra was awful...but it did expose that I have all this underneath that's been going on, so in that way it's good that the Bextra got gone.
Machine gun factory? I'm being nice, really I am!!
Doesn't sound to me like you're really retiring; I think you'll find stuff to keep you active.

I'm taking it for GERD, and right now I'm up to 40 mg. 2/times a day. I don't like the sound of "Lupus", friend, although I know there are some fine people here who are unfortunate to have it. Take care of yourself! Nanny

Golly, I wouldn't wanna get yer fake knee outta joint...so don't DO dat, ok? LOL
Nah, really...highly dubious means 1 outta 100 turns into full Lupus. This is Lupus-like. Slightly Loopy. With me things are unusual or weird, but not often rare or unique. It's much more likely a Lottery machine will spark and flame when I go by rather than my actually winning any Lottery game. Odd things rather than trying to count hen's teeth. So I won't get the organ involvement. I dunno if this is related to the EDS or not....this doc isn't saying one way or the other and I dunno other EDS'ers who have this.
BTW I hope that my shot post settles yer ??? Nannykins. :-)

Rosemarie Shiver - 05 Oct 2005 19:47 GMT Ah, Charrly!! LOL
It IS nice to know I'm not alone, too. I dunno if you've seen.....but we've had long threads on the FM NG about FM'ers and electrical fields being disrupted by us. There's a LOT of us who do that. Walking disaster areas! LOL My hubby is getting tired of me messing up hard drives....just by sitting too close. :-( Those who don't make watches stop and blow out streetlights really don't <and can't> get it. It's too bad you share it, but it's good that you and I are in good company, right? Odd, yes...but unique? Nah. LOLOL

Holland - 09 Oct 2005 22:18 GMT ha! you should try being on an elevator with me - can't get those danged electrostatic buttons to work right - never quite the same - push and push and nothing at all or just brush my hand across and set off a whole row of 'em! also, mostly had to quite wearing battery watches - never keep good time with one, and i've gotten a couple of expensive ones as presents - not to mention touch screens in the stores!
now, i've held off as long as i can: who told ya that being 'loopy' was part of your medical???
dee, dee, dum, do, do.....
